The countdown to the Headies 2014 has begun and we all just can’t wait for Africa’s biggest event.

The event which brings together individuals in the music industry is an initiative from Smooth Promotions Limited to recognize the distinguished achievements of artistes and entertainers in the entertainment industry.

The rookie contest, is one category that so many upcoming stars look forward to. Since its inception in 2012, the category has seen upcoming stars rise to be superstars.

Last year, fast rising Ink Edwards emerge winner from the Headies 2013 Rookie Competition while 2012 saw Burna Boy and Dammy Krane emerge as tied winners. The winner of the Rookie competition always perform on the big stage at The Headies while the 1st and 2nd runners up perform at The Headies nominees’ party,

However, there will be a new twist in this year’s rookie competition process as there will be only three finalists and the three of them will open the performance stage at the Headies 2014.

After dishing out their performance, there will then be another round of votes where the winner of the night will finally emerge.

The three Headies Rookie of the year finalists are Naija Ninja First Lady, YounggreyC, Banana crooner, Slyde and Mavins signee Reekado Bankz.

This is going to be a big night for the new guys. Kill the performance, get the votes and you walk away with the prestigious plaque.
