The top rappers, to me, are:
Mode Nine
MI
Ikechukwu
Gino
Naeto C
Freestyle in n particular order.
In terms of lyrics, organization of punch lines and the interspersing of metaphors, it will be between MI and ModeNine but commercially, maybe Ikechukwu. What do U guys think?

MCC is the best rapper in Nigeria. Am waiting 4 the OFFICE video with my breath held.
Real heads out there, I just got the saddest news, 9ice won best hiphop act in the MAMAS, For GODSAKE!! 9ice aint HipHop, real heads cant afford sit back and let these cats tell us what hiphop is, As far as am concerned the MAMAs might as well be run by a bunch of old MAMAs straight from an August meeting for all they know about Hiphop. Check out this link www.youtube.com/v/EsmcHYT7Y4I (copy and paste) for some real sh*t. MCC is a the best pidgeon rapper out there cause his rhymes make me think. Now thats real Hip Hop, LYRICS!!!!. 9ice, Hiphop? Those words shouldnt be in the same sentence. Why do these cats always have to blame their sh*t on hiphop? Cldnt they say best new act or best r&b or raga or something? Whyd they hav 2 involve my LIFE in that sh*t

U dey vex me with your comment, Rugged man is not a rapper, He's just a Singer. He keep doin local, wack shit! 90% of the guys albums are beef songs, but why?

Ikechukwu got more flow than Ruggedboy, Wine em well as won him 2 awards already this year before the albums is even out.

Ruggedboy he came into the game dissing people, he's not even sure of his own skills!!!!

Here is Peace or war lyrics for u, feel it. Talking about he came into the industry dissing people, dat aint no dissing, he corrected so many people, where is Rasquie, Eedris, maintain and many more of dem he dissed. You are d one dissing nigga.

Verse 1
Just because I open my mouth
People dey hala, people dey shout
Them dey kolo both for streets and inside the house
Including universities, polytechnics, respect me
Because I don yarn wetin them don keep inside them chest since
I speak for shoemakers
I also speak for mechanics
I speak for those wey hear some kind of rap and don't understand it
I speak for those wey don vex so they dem tear them clothes
And for those wey no fit talk unless Oga door don close
I speak to those wey dey ask me where I don dey since
While I pity ones wey enter rap without knowing the basics
Makes it da real or fake rubbish
Because makeshift- no dey last- na Matrix
Like actors wey dey waka pass
I teach through my music, give you lesson to learn
No matter wetin them try to do, my fire still go burn
I don speak ma mind and I go still speak more
You either love me or hate me in peace or war

Chorus (talking)

Verse 2
Some actually ask why I spat the way I did with so much venom
Say if I no get beef why I no just call them to tell them
How you go talk to person wey he dey feel say him dey too much
When ofcourse we know say the cause na plenty promo from big bros
Of course I laid low
Watched the fake glow grow
Prematurely, I knew it had to end for surely
It was insults
I took with a pinch of salt and a bottle of malt
Until the voice in ma head say
”Na time to put a halt to”
Da fake hype, fake promo ,fake rap
Them don too believe that's why e be like say I set trap
Wey them fall inside as I glide
Rush to wash all of them like bar beach high tide
Those flows came from inside
My brain, wey them don dey try to stain since
Like puttin white cloth inside a bowl of paint or blue ink
I don speak ma mind and I go still speak more
You either love me or hate me in peace and war

Chorus (talking)

Verse 3
My time na wetin I take to go investigate
And drop flow wey everybody go fit relate with
Children go fit to play with
Hit da stage with
Trip and split your brains with
Because its filled with facts wey go make you flash back to past tracks to criticize
Here, take eh heh, put am inside
Make you feel the words, make you feel the vibes
Eedris yack Tetuila with in leg, nobody talk
I name names and criticize lyrics, them crow like cock
They run around like chicken wey them cut in neck
Some no fit wey for while others dey wait for wetin I go talk next
Another- send me mail dey analyze ma lyrics
They pick out points from deep inside-I was tripped
Now I don turn one man fan to ma own critic
Which also makes you ma fan whether or not you admit it
I don speak ma mind and I go still speak more
You either love me or hate me in peace and war

Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by DOGGMAN: 3:57pm On Dec 04, 2008
the list of rap mc's u did mention are good, but what good are they if the street aint feeling them. u did mention mode 9, MI etc. this muthaf**ks has no street credibility and thats the reason this b***h are still brook. and they are the reason no marketers and record label are not ready sign any rap artist. even the street is feeling Dagrin more than this b***h.
Give us street and original lyrics

GOD LOVE HIP HOP, doggman says so, cool
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by youngdee(m): 10:33pm On Dec 04, 2008
@Khanye

You are d one who is whack to the extent that no one will even employ as a clerk

just got that single line 4 u to know dat u re talking to a great rapper.

Just like someone said in the thread, what are u doing when u hv no street credibilty, mode 9 is not d only one doing hardcore rap, we feel game and weezy here in Nigeria and wht they are doing is hardcore. so f**k mode9 and u are nothin but punk ass motherf**ker
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by tosinadeda: 10:49pm On Dec 04, 2008
Me sef dey feel dagrin o!
Guy is on fire mehn, boys dey vex
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by martinkem(m): 11:25pm On Dec 04, 2008
Common guys no need 4 d insults
point of correction game & wayne dont do hardcore rap and neither does mode9.

Top MC's should b decided by market value and best MC's by lyrics.

Top MC is undoubtably Ruggedman, mode9 is only after him cos he knows who wears d crown, u dont get famous 4 killin a chicken u have to go after a lion, if u succeed like ruggedy u get recognised & applauded and if u dont u still get recognised as somebody,

Best mc by lyrical content is between mode9 & mi, but like some1 pointed out they are still largely unknown & undervalued, mode9 should emulate the likes of 2pac, biggie smalls, jay, nas wayne game (have anyone noticed it, but i think game got igbo blood always praise singing in hip tracks like he's trying to win over people particularly fellow artist) and do mainstream, do what people would generally like if u are makin a personal album str8 from ur heart keep that shit in ur house dont release it.
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by youngdee(m): 11:53pm On Dec 04, 2008
@martin

Thanks for d comment but lyrically Mode 9 is not better than Rugged man cos that shit he do is not done here in Naija and we dont care for such shits. Rugged has something of that nature too check out WONT BATTLE. Everything tracks of Mode 9 is always about diss except few like cry.

He can never make money or make name here in Nigeria if he continue that way and if it is about dissing, he will always meet Rugged man there cos he gats it all.
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by DOGGMAN: 10:16am On Dec 05, 2008
u mode 9 fans are such a pu**Y, u all knew ya bros always goes through dictionary just to pick ryhmes, i'm proud of d kind muthaf**ka who i am, i am the street, i speak d street, i preach d street. if hip hop na only make man dey speak fone dey, then f**K hip hop. and if yall get problem wit dat, f**k u to.
GOOD LUV HIP HOP, doggman says so. cool
Re: Who Is The Top Rapper In Nigeria? by khanye(m): 10:51am On Dec 05, 2008

As your name sounds, You're nuttin but a DOGG. Why are u taking this personal?

Mode goes thru Dic. to get rhymes? You nuttin but a big fool, Ruggedboy is no where near Mode in every aspect of life. Rugged got no lyrics for me. You guyz dont just understand real hip pop and i dont blame you, You, Rugged and his fan are all WACK!!!!

@ Young dee (YOung boy) grin

Dont you know Rugged will never battle Mode Lyricaly. You heard Talking you to. Rugged replied thru Banging the Wackest shit i've ever heard. Tell your boy Rugged to quit Rap and go do something else.

I wont trade F words with you cos i can see you've got nuttin upstairs, WORD!!!!!

Yeah, I am young and will soon become young millionaire take it or leave it. We all know that Rugged rep Naija to da core and mode 9 is just someone who goes through another rapper lyrics and build up his. We aint shooting guns here, if he think he's good enuff, den he should go and start rapping there in the US. For me, Rugged will come first, MI, Gino, Terry da rap man and so on before Mode 9

mode 9 is just someone who goes through another rapper lyrics and build up his - Who's Lyric? - I want you to give me a good example.

IF you think Rugged got some good lyrics then i want you to give me some here.

Here are some of Mode's PUNCH LINES:

Grown man dont play with little boys, i guess you all should go find some toys - I'm Not Like You (Mode 9)

You Guyz are just Diskette (Ruggedman) We Hardrive (Modey Babatunde) - Pentium IX (Mode 9)

I heard your rhymes are they are not working me, too jerky for me, MY WORD PLAY IS TOO HARD! - Talking to you (Mode 9)

You got the blingz player, but i got the skill to make you go dumb - Hip Pop (Mode 9)

Mode will always be da best with his Lyrical Ishhhhhhhhhhhhh, Word!!!!!
