House what can i do to acheive a black hair? I actually want to grow an afro but each time my hair grows more a bit bigger, its becomes brownish. The more reason i want to acheive this is that i have a scar on my head that can only be hidden with an afro. Advise me on what to do. 1 Like |

~So your hair growing isnt the problem?! Its having it grow black instead of brown you want sorted out?! ~Try colouring your hair black then!!if you do however,it wont be permanent, the colour rinses off after every 6 weeks, or depending on how often you wash your hair!! ~Am aware that when some people use hair relaxers,S-curls regularly,it gives the hair a different shade of colour!-Could that be your case? |

Re: How To Acheive A Black Afro Hairstyle by mohawkchic(f): 2:03pm On Dec 02, 2008 |
~I couldnt find any names for hair dye for Black men to recommend except "Just For Men" which is for grey coverage!! Soori ~I can advice You do however look on the box of the product you do buy to make sure whatever dye/colour you buy states there is Non-toxic Coloring Agents, this means the hair dye/colour doesnt not contain peroxide & some other chemicals . . . .otherwise your hair will end up with more brownish tones than you first had!! ~There are Semi-permanent,Demi-permanent and Permanent hair colours available!! ~Have a look around your local hair store,Henna was recommended on some of the pages i browsed thro, you should check it out!Drinking lots of water helps moisturize your hair growth too.

When i was in secondary school I use to beg my friend that works in a textile co. to dye my faded jeans to black irrespective of the initial colour and it looks very 9ice. So i'd advice u visit any of the surviving textile mills. |

This works for both guys and gals. The easiest way to grow your hair is by taking loads of multi-vitamins. Look out for multi-vitamins containing Biotin (found in bananas) and omega 3. Any multi-vitamin in general is good for your hair. I never believed this until I tried it and it's worked for me cos my hair looks FAB. |

This is one of the reasons why I don't like helping some people. Imagine You are asking of stuff that can make your hair dark. I told you to use the mixture of marijuana and Hair cream, and you said that one taya you.nawa 4 u o Guy, if it was to be in the past I would have asked you to buy Morgan Hair Cream only, but the truth is, you can't easily get the original one now that why I told you to add marijuana, because the combination works very well. If not for the way people view Marijuana, it is very good for hair and other stuffs like that. Anyway I wish you good luck in searching for a better alternative. |

@sun temi, na wa for you sha. I bet you know how marijuana works . i mean the real gbana.if this guy try this remedy i bet he will be high as oke and it will take some tranquilliser to bring him down.na so his eye go dilate and probably start to pee on himself. That advise is very ridiculous and should never be embrace. @ poster--- Mohawk chick advise is the best as it is reasonable and logistic. If you can, you can check with cosmetologist, they will be able to help you. |
Re: How To Acheive A Black Afro Hairstyle by duduspace(m): 2:13pm On Dec 06, 2008 |
sun_temi: It even has other medicinal properties hence the reason why some countries are now introducing legislation to allow marijuana and cannabis for personal use i.e you only get arrested if you have amounts above a certain weight on you indicating that you are a dealer of some sorts. Note: This is not an encouragement for anyone to go try it as such legislation has not been introduced in Nigeria, besides its addictive properties and other mental health issues are still being actively researched. I no fit shout o. |

Want to grow a Fro?- Your questions answered !! How do I start to grow an Afro– do I need my haircut in a certain style beforehand? If your are starting to grow your Afro from a short haircut you must make sure you have a defined hair line – this can be done with clippers, you will need to continue to keep this up until your hair starts to grow and take shape. As your hair grows and the style takes shape you may notice some hairs appear to be growing longer than others particularly on top. You need to try to get the hair on the side of your head to be an even length with the hair on top. In order to do this you will need to make sure the top is trimmed to match the slower growth of sides. This is a great style for summer. How do I care for my Afro? Afros are easy to care for. A lot of it depends on length. Short Afros can be shampooed twice or three times weekly, daily if one wishes. Medium and longer lengths can be shampooed just as frequently but should be conditioned every other shampoo to maintain moisture levels. I find that Sta Sof Fro Extra Dry works really well for longer “Fros” as these tend to get drier on ends. How do I comb the “Fro”? You should never comb dry hair and don't use water because water can dry hair out. Before combing hair should be sprayed with Sta Sof Fro Oil Sheen Spray or for shorter Fros use Sof n Free's Curl Activator Lotion. The best way to comb the Fro is to separate hair strands to keep them from tangling. Begin combing on the perimeter of hair so for back and sides start at nape and temples and work your way up to the crown. For top combing start at forehead and comb forward working your way back to the crown, you can then comb for strand separation and style. Finish styling by using an Afro pick but remember you should never comb your hair with a pick. A pick will decrease the diameter of the strand and cause the hair to tangle and break. How long should I grow my Afro? Length should revolve around form and function. You need to decide if you just want your Fro to frame your face, or go further. How tall are you? Make sure that your Afro length complements you body type and height. Remember you can play with your Fro but care should be taken, especially if your hair is going to be textured and set on bone rollers or braided and combed out to make a wavy pattern http://www.itzcaribbean.com/Afro_hair_style.php
