THE FOUNDATION OF GRATITUDE

“I will mention the loving kindnesses of the
LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according
to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and
the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
which he hath bestowed on them according to
his mercies, and according to the multitude of
his loving kindnesses.” - (Isaiah 63:7)

The benevolence of God is overwhelming; our
text today expresses that. From the air we
breathe, the life we live, to the provisions that
we enjoy both in this life and in the spirit
(2Pet. 1:3), no one can contest that we owe
God even our very lives!
True gratitude is built upon the understanding
that God is the Source of all that we have
received. It is a deep-seated resolution to
lavish praise on the God of all goodness for
every success we achieve, rather than ascribing
undue praise and honour to our own
intelligence, creativity, wealth, skills etc.
This month, be ready to learn and put on the
attitude of gratitude which would automate the
cycle of God’s blessings upon your life. Never
stop bringing to remembrance and mentioning
all His blessings in your life, until thanksgiving
becomes the life that you live. Glory to God!

TITLE: THE COMMITMENT OF GRATITUDE

1Samuel 1:27-28
“For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD.”

The conventional way of expressing gratitude is saying ‘Thank You’. Though conventional, this is not a sufficient display of gratitude, because gratitude goes beyond what is said.

In our text today, we see how Hannah returned to dedicate Samuel unto the service of God after her womb was opened. This shows us that gratitude entails standing by the one to whom you owe thanks and supporting His vision. The most excellent display of gratitude is in rededicating our lives and resources to the furtherance of God’s Kingdom on the earth.

True gratitude births commitment. It starts with what is said, but is perfected in the commitment that we make thereafter. As we give God thanks this season, in what ways would you commit yourself to God’s assignment on the earth? Consider this today and throughout the rest of this month and make a special commitment to God as a sign of your gratitude.

FORGOTTEN GRATITUDES
Psalm 143:5
“ I remember the days of old; I meditate on all
thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.”
Gratitude is not a one-off thing; tThanksgiving
never ends. However, many persons find it
difficult to remember, not to talk of thanking
God for a blessing received in the past. It is
discipline toeven thank God for your salvation,
healing or breakthrough years after He
perfected such in your life.
The blessings of God are forever, hence our
thanks to Him for what He has done should
never cease. As your thanksgiving remains
before Him concerning that which he has done
for you, so also will your blessing remain and
get even bigger. Say Amen!
Draw out a list of those things that you
received from God this year. Also draw a list of
persons through whom God has blessed you,
and take it upon yourself to express your
gratitude to them once and again. As you
recommit yourself to thanking God again and
again for your blessings, those blessings would
remain fresh and preserved even for a longer
period. Halleluyah!

TITLE: THE COST OF GRATITUDE
TEXT: Psalms 119:62
“At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee
because of thy righteous judgments.”
Thanksgiving is not just about you, but the one
to whom you express gratitude. God’s pleasure,
not your convenience should determine how
you thank Him.
David in our text today is willing to give up His
sleep to praise God, yet that would not be His
first. Remember how He danced unashamedly
at another time just to thank the Lord (2Sam
6).
One of the reasons we often fail to give God the
praise due to His Name is that we think of
ourselves more than we think about pleasing
Him. Hence, our so-called act of gratitude to
Him is null and void. For instance, when what
determines how well you dance in thanksgiving
is the effect of the dance on your appearance;
your makeup and clothes; your thanksgiving is
null and void. How selfish!
True gratitude would always cost you
something. Therefore, do not hold back in
giving thanks to God, neither be selfish in
offering a gift to say thank you to someone who
has been of help to you. Go out of your way to
do what will be appreciated by the person to
whom you would be expressing gratitude today
and throughout this month.

TITLE: GRATITUDE FORGIVES
TEXT: Matthew 18:32-33
“Then his lord, after that he had called him,
said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave
thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
shouldest not thou also have had compassion
on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on
thee?”
In true thanksgiving, there is an element of
forgiveness. We cannot claim to be truly
grateful to God without expressing the same
character that He expressed to us towards
others. The servant in our text today was called
wicked because he failed in this regard. Have
you been failing also?
If God has been merciful to you, you owe it to
others to be merciful also. The true measure of
how grateful you are about what God has done
for you can be seen in your readiness to also
lift the burdens of others , in such a way that
they too can have something to be grateful for.
Glory to God!
A heart that is truly grateful seeks to liberate
others. Your thanksgiving to God would not be
complete until you let go of hurts and offenses
that you have harboured against others.
Forgive others, even as your heavenly Father
has forgiven you. Halleluyah!

Our text today opens our eyes to yet another
attitude of gratitude; a grateful man also
rejoices with those who rejoice. Glory to God!
The attitude of gratitude compels a believer to
give God thanks even for the success of others.
The news of progress lightens his countenance;
whether the recent breakthrough is his or
another’s he rejoices nonetheless. Halleluyah!
Are you truly grateful for what you have
received? If yes, then celebrate the blessing of
God wherever it manifests, whether in your life
or in the lives of others. Set out time today to
thank the Lord for the salvation of a soul near
you. Thank Him for the success of a relative or
friend. Train yourself to rejoice with those that
rejoice, because in that, you show that you
possess the attitude of gratitude. Glory to God!

TITLE:THE DOUBLE HONOUR GRATITUDE
TEXT: 1Timothy 5:17
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy
of double honour, especially they who labour in
the word and doctrine.
It would not be strange to think about getting
your spouse a special thank you card or gift at
regular intervals, even at such a time as this,
but many would find the idea of giving a gift or
sowing a personal seed to their pastor or
church leader a strange idea. This restraint is
definitely not from God!
If your pastor or spiritual authority is nowhere
near the top of your gratitude list this season,
you are neglecting an important instruction
from God. Our text today clearly specifies that
those who labour in the Word of God and
doctrine must be accorded double the regular
honour or gratitude that we naturally give to
others.
Therefore, each time you have the opportunity
to appreciate those who feed and look after you
spiritually, go the extra mile to express your
gratitude, and remember to do so often.
Remember that no amount of money can buy
that which they add to your life daily. They are
a gift to you from God; cherish them and show
your gratitude to them this season. Glory to
God!

TITLE: A GRATEFUL MAN REPENTS
TEXT: Luke 19:8
“And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord;
Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the
poor; and if I have taken any thing from any
man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.”
God’s love melts even the hardest of hearts.
Not only does an encounter with Jesus melt the
heart, it convicts. None who claims to have
seen the hand of God in their lives continues in
sin or uncleanness. The story of Zacchaeus
emphasises this great truth.
Many would have been taken by surprise by
Zacchaeus’ instant repentance when he hosted
Jesus, because no lengthy sermon was
preached. But we see that in gratitude to Jesus’
love, Zacchaeus made a commitment to
righteous living. Love is a potent tool in a
soulwinner’s hand for bringing the lost to
repentance. Glory to God!
More so, for those who are saved, maintaining
gratitude entails that you do not return to that
which you were saved from. Only an ungrateful
man returns to his sin just as a dog to its
vomit (Prov. 26:11). Are you truly grateful for
the mercy of God upon your life, resolve to keep
your sanctification, daily consecrating yourself
to the Living God. Praise God!

TITLE: THANKSGIVING CANCELS OUT YOUR ERROR
TEXT: Luke 17:19
“ And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made
thee whole.”
The story of the ten lepers in Luke chapter 16 shows us how
thanksgiving can cancel our errors. Ten lepers were cleansed,
but only one returned to give thanks, and he received what
the rest nine did not have. They were all cleansed when their
leprosy receded, but the one who came to give thanks
received one more thing – wholeness. In other words, his
skin became as fresh as that of a new born baby; his scars;
the effect of his affliction was completely taken away. And
also, all that he had lost during the time of his challenges was
restored. Glory to God!
Did you make a mistake in the course of this year which has
left a scar on you? Thanksgiving is what you need to erase
those scars, because in thanksgiving, your records of wrong
are wiped, so that no trace of the effects of your mistake
remains.
As you give thanks to God this season for all He has done in
your life, His power would move into your life to perfect all
that concerns you. Wholeness is yours as you praise His
Name now! Say Amen to that!

TITLE: THANKSGIVING WITHOUT FAITH IS NOTHING

Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Faithfulness is not the same thing as faith. A man can faithfully adhere to an instruction and yet have no faith concerning it. In other words, He has no conviction that He would receive a reward for His labour. This is not the right mindset for a believer.

However hard you dance in praise to God, and regardless of how large your offering is, they all count for nothing if your heart is without faith towards God while you thank Him. Beyond the utterance of thanks and the exhaustive display of gratitude, God expects us to thank Him with an expectation of the blessing. He has not called us to thank Him for nothing (Isa. 45:19).

Therefore, look into God’s Word today to see the benefits of thanksgiving. Have an expectation to receive from God as you thank Him this season, because with faith in your heart, He will bless you with an exceeding abundantly above measure. Glory to God

“To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.”

In preparing for thanksgiving, you must plan to tell of God’s goodness. It is of no use keeping to yourself what God has done for you. We see in our text today how that David set his heart to keep himself busy with talking about God’s goodness and faithfulness all day long. This is an important element in thanksgiving.

Do not think that your testimony is insignificant. No, it’s not! It is so potent, it can save a life! The testimonies of Andrew and Philip brought their brothers to Jesus (John 1:40-46),that of the Samaritan woman saved an entire city (John 4). Glory to God!

Your thanksgiving would not be complete until you testify of God’s goodness. Plan to step out in the congregation and share your testimony; tell someone about His loving kindness and faithfulness as you go about your business and assignment today. In so doing, you would strengthen the faith of another believer and perfect your own testimony. Glory to God!

One of the ways we have learnt to appreciate
our parents, spouse, friends or relations is by
presenting them with gifts, an attempt at
expressing how much they mean to us or how
much we value who they have been to us. By
our gift, we create a memorial of our love for
them.
In the same way, an offering to God in
thanksgiving is a memorial before Him, a sweet
smelling savour. Observe God’s response to the
offering of Noah as seen in our scriptural text
today. God resolved henceforth not to curse the
ground; the source of man’s food and
sustenance.
Therefore, set out in your heart to thank the
Lord in a big way this season. Resolve not to
appear before Him empty-handed (Exo. 23:15),
but predetermine what you would offer to Him
as you appear before Him in thanksgiving.A

TITLE: THANKSGIVING PRESERVES YOUR BLESSINGS

“I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever.”

Just like a man can be stripped of his possession if he fails to provide necessary evidence of ownership, the devil often time strips believers of their blessings because they cannot present the receipt of ownership. And what would that receipt be? - Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving acknowledges God as the Source of our blessings. Our prayer of thanksgiving is therefore a declaration that what we have received came from God, ascribing the right of retrieval to Him alone. This keeps the devil out, and thus, we sanctify and preserve that blessing. Glory to God!

What blessing are you on the verge of losing at the moment? Is it your marriage or the job God gave you? Set aside time today to dance and praise God over it. Declare boldly that God is the Source of your blessing, and He will keep your blessing intact. Halleluyah!

TITLE: ENROL FOR GOD’S BLESSING

Malachi 3:16
“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”

Our text today says that God listens to the conversations of men and gives special attention to what is said. A book of remembrance is opened before Him each time you thank Him or talk about His goodness. But why does God do this?

God writes your Name in the Book so that He may do you good in the day of need, and to make you reap what you have been declaring concerning Him all along. Glory to God! Mordecai would have died had the King not found his name in the book of records (Esther. 6). Much in the same way, God will visit you according to how your confession of Him has been in times past.
With your words, you can enrol yourself for God’s visitation. How? By constantly talking about His faithfulness even in the midst of adversity.

Therefore, what will you say about God today? Speak about His love, mercy and goodness and enrol yourself for special end of year blessings.

TITLE: ACCESS PEACE THROUGH THANKSGIVING

John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

These days, almost every breaking news is about conflict, wars, natural disasters, poverty and hunger, but the promise of Christ Jesus to us is that His peace would remain with us. As children of God, we have been given the right to access God’s peace even in the midst of trying situations. Praise God!

The absence of peace is the reason for anxiety. In times of troubles and challenges, Philippians 4:7 tells us to make our request known to God with prayers, supplication and thanksgiving. Then it says that His peace that surpasses our understanding would rule our hearts. Thus we see that God does not expect us to cry, worry or fear. He wants us to access His peace through thanksgiving. Glory to God!

Do you have any form of anxiety or worry about any area of your life? Speak to the Lord today and ask him to fill your heart with His peace. Maintain an atmosphere of thanksgiving as you await the situation to turn around in your favour. As you do, you will be amazed at how fast all your worries will give way to songs of rejoicing. Halleluyah!

TITLE: WHERE ARE YOUR PARENTS?
TEXT: Exodus 20:12
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy
days may be long upon the land which the
LORD thy God giveth thee.”
Where are your parents on your gratitude list?
No where near the top? Big mistake! Your
present status in the society notwithstanding,
your parents played a vital role in your rise to
the top. If they had held back at the time they
sponsored your education or catered for your
needs in your growing up days, where would
the present success you have come from?
Our text today is a promise from God which
comes with a condition – honour your parents
and you can be assured of longevity. Notice
that God did not say, honour your father and
your mother IF they have a warm personality. In
other words, not even their character is enough
excuse to dishonour or abandon them.
Honouring your parents starts with appreciating
them for all their labour over you. If you do not
have biological parents anymore, you can
extend this honour to your guardian, or persons
who have watched over you or cared for you.
Through a surprise visit, an unexpected gift or
just the constant supply for their needs, show
gratitude to your parents today, that your days
may be long upon the earth. Amen.

TITLE: MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR

Psalms 97:12
“Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”

Do not be deceived into thinking that God has done nothing worth thanking Him for. Our text today talks about thanking Him for His Holiness and rejoicing for the gift of righteousness. Wow! So those are enough reasons to thank Him? Yes!

How often we think, ‘I would have danced and given God a big seed if only I had gotten that contract’; ‘If only my mother had survived the sickness’; or ‘how I wish I were married yet’. But unknown to us, these paralyzing thoughts of ‘what ifs’ and ‘how I wish’ are Satan’s strategy for blinding us to the faithfulness of God, stealing our worship, and robbing us of the attendant blessings of giving God thanks.

Thanksgiving heals, restores and makes whole (Luke 17:19). So what would you rather have? Regret, complaints or the blessing of giving thanks? Take time out now and begin to thank the Lord for the breath in your nostrils, the salvation of your soul and your place with Christ in His Kingdom (Col. 1:12-13). Oh, Glory to God!

Our text today reminds us that God keeps working in us and for us until He completes his project in our lives.
When we cry unto God about a need, His Word first comes as a comfort. That promise from God’s Word is only the precursor. The secret to receiving the rest from God is thanksgiving. Being grateful for the promise and thanking Him in anticipation of the performance, fuels the completion of what God has started in your life. Glory to God!

Have you prayed about a matter? Do not complain or entertain worry, but sustain your prayer till His Word comes. And when His Word comes, hold on to it with thanksgiving, for as you learn to do this, testimonies of answered prayers would be common place in your life. Say Amen to that!

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath
made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance
of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us
from the power of darkness, and hath
translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
God’s love for man is immeasurably great. The
Bible says that while we were yet sinners and
undeserving, Christ died for us (Rom.
5:,prompting a change in nature, one which
saw us becoming instant partakers of God’s
own Nature, qualifying us to inherit His Glory.
Praise God!
By birth, all men are citizens of hell because
they possess the nature of sin which qualifies
them for the wrath of God (Ephesians 2:2-3).
However those who accept the sacrifice and
Lordship of Christ become new creatures in
Christ, qualifying them to partake in the Glory
of God.
So, are you born again? If you are, then you are
qualified to partake of the inheritance of the
saints. Let your heart thus resonate in
thanksgiving to God knowing that He qualified
you. But if you are not yet born again, there is
good news for you; you can put off the nature
of sin and death right now and take on the
righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (Say the
prayer of salvation on this leaflet and you will
receive Eternal Life). Oh, Glory to God!

TITLE: THE LIFESTLYE OF THANKSGIVING
TEXT: Colossians 3:15
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to
the which also ye are called in one body; and
be ye thankful.”
Often when thanksgiving is mentioned, what
comes to mind is a set day of festivity wherein
we gather in cathedrals and churches to offer
gifts lavishly. Yet, thanksgiving transcends this.
It is an attitude, one which is not only
expressed towards God on a set day, but lived
daily and demonstrated in a lifestyle of
appreciating everyone through whom God
blesses us.
The attitude of expecting favours from people
as a matter of obligation is wrong. Your daily
comfort is dependent on the labour of some
people. Besides their pay and remuneration,
they deserve appreciation too. Learn to say
thank you even to the Cab driver, your Cook,
your kid’s teacher and everyone whose service
keeps you from being stranded each day.
Today, you must remember those who have
helped you to get to the place where you
currently are in your life, because in truth, life
could have been quite miserable without them.
Do not delay in this, start it now.

TITLE: PATIENCE: A GRATITUDE INDEX
TEXT: Colossians 3:12-13a
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,
humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
forbearing one another…”
How do you tell if a man is truly grateful for
what God has made Him? Such a man
acknowledges that He is a product of God’s
Grace, not His own effort. How? By being
patient with the imperfect, immature believers,
knowing that God’s Grace is at work in them
also.
It takes the Grace of God to grow and mature in
the things of God. As believers, we are not to
treat others rashly or to think of ourselves more
highly than we ought to. (Rom. 12:3). Rather,
we are expected to patiently exhort those whose
way of life falls short of God’s standard (2Tim.
2:25), praying for them and nurturing the hope
that they would someday change. Glory to God!
Therefore, measure your gratitude level today
with the patience index. The level of your
gratitude can be measured by how patient you
are with those who are weak. Ask the Spirit of
God to help you see the imperfect just the way
He sees them, and let Him guide you to
intercede for the spiritual maturity of others.

TITLE: MAGNIFY GOD
TEXT: Psalms 69:30
“I will praise the name of God with a song, and
will magnify him with thanksgiving.”
To magnify literarily means to enlarge a thing.
In another sense, it is to amplify something. Our
text today identifies thanksgiving as a tool for
magnifying God. How is this so, and for what
purpose must we magnify God?
In thanksgiving, a man testifies of God’s
goodness. This act of faith brings God into the
picture; into the imagination of those who hear
him, causing the hearts of those who have not
thought or sought after God to suddenly desire
Him. Thanksgiving makes God visible where he
had hitherto been unseen.
Magnifying God through your testimony of His
goodness is also a way of seeking Him,
because not only does it create a
consciousness of God in your heart, it drives
others to seek Him also. And as we see in
Psalms 69:32, magnifying God comes with a
blessing; everything at the core of your life
shall live! Shout Amen!

TITLE: GET A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR JESUS
TEXT:Luke 15:7
“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in
heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more
than over ninety and nine just persons, which
need no repentance.”
If Christ were present in bodily form on the
earth today, there would have been an
avalanche of gifts at His doorsteps on this
special day. Many would have offered to take
Him out or to book for time on Satellite TV to
spread His fame. But what is the best gift you
can give to Him on this special day?
The best gift you can give to celebrate a man
on a day like this is that which shows your
commitment to His values; that which connects
you to His passion and heart’s desire. This, to
Christ, is Soul winning. Remember how that He
said His mission was to seek and to save the
lost (Luke 19:10).
It is clear then that the best gift for Christ
today is that of a soul. What would you do to
ensure that at least one more soul accepts Him
as Lord today? This is the way to put a broad
smile on the Saviour’s face on His birthday and
every day. Halleluyah!

“He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”

Have you ever heard someone say ‘Bible or no Bible, this is what I want to do.’ Or ‘Do not bring Church into this matter’? What do these statements mean to you? They are nothing but avenues to gratify the desires of the flesh while setting aside the Will of God, a practice that comes with grave consequences.

In the realms of the Spirit, there are patterns. These are revealed in God’s Word as instructions and principles by which a believer must live daily. Those who violate spiritual principles do so at their own peril, for one cannot expect to be protected by God when he wilfully ignores His instructions because of how he feels.

God’s call for you to praise Him, or to study His Word, or to pray for your own benefit, and must therefore not be taken with levity. Strengthen your commitment to study God’s Word, know His Will and obey them. This is how to secure His blessings over your life this season and every day. Halleluyah!

God is our Source; there is nothing we need that His divine power has not made available for us, yet a double-minded believer would receive nothing of His provisions (James 1:. Why? Because it takes consistency in seeking God, knowing His will and doing them for an unceasing flow of His blessing to be sustained.

More so, spiritual growth occurs with successive obedience, tying your rate of growth to your ability to obey God’s Word continuously. Our text today highlights the disposition of the believers in the early Church; they continued steadfastly in what they have been taught from the Word of God. Little wonder why they grew and multiplied greatly (Acts 2:47). Glory to God!

You can grow faster in your spiritual life by putting in place systems that would help you attend to and obey God’s Word continuously in the incoming year. Start by making up your mind to continue in Thanksgiving today, taking diligence to put into practice all that you have been taught by God’s Spirit through His Word.

TITLE: EXPECT MORE!
TEXT: Ephesians 3:20
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us.”
Where asking and receiving from God is
concerned, many believers only know that there
is a God in heaven who answers prayers. Well,
that is true and valid, yet, there is a deeper
truth which our text today opens our eyes to:
God is able to even surpass our expectations.
Glory!
Our God is God of addition. When Jesus taught
about giving and receiving, He stated in clear
terms that a greater measure would be given
back to anyone who offers to God. (Luk.
6:38)The practice of giving to God without
expecting a harvest of multiple blessings is not
consistent with the God kind of faith.
When we worship, thank or praise God, it is
faith to expect His blessing to follow.
So we see that it is faith, not greed, to
approach God with full assurance that He is
able to do exceeding abundantly above all we
have asked or given. Therefore, do not hesitate
to come before Him today thanking Him for the
harvest that lay ahead. Expect more because
there is abundance coming!

TITLE:
DAILY MEASURE OF THANKSGIVING

SCRIPTURAL TEXT: (Psalms 68:19)
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”

God’s Agenda is for man to constantly and continuously worship Him. Our scriptural text today shows us that His blessings come to us daily, revealing the regularity with which He expects us to worship and thank Him also.

The story of the creation in Genesis 1 highlights how He created various things on different days and set these in order on the earth. He planned and planted new things in every new day for you to discover, so that with every discovery you would worship and praise Him. Glory to God!

Thanksgiving helps to keep your mind on God and helps you to ceaselessly worship Him. Failure to see and acknowledge that which He does in our lives daily is therefore an anomaly. Rather, with every news of progress, and every promise fulfilled, you ought to lift up your hands to Him in worship and to express your gratitude to Him because He is a great King, and He deserves your worship. Amen!

ISAIAH PROPHESIES: May you see God in everything around you today in Jesus name.

TITLE: HAND OVER YOUR CARES
* * *
SCRIPTURAL TEXT: Mathew 13:22
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
* * *
The Word of God is quick and powerful, potent and effectual, but in our text today, Jesus talks about certain things which have the potential to snuff out the Word of God in your life. First on that list is what He calls the care of this world; an impulsive drive to satisfy one’s daily needs at the expense of spiritual values.

Our text today makes it clear that anyone who allows His love for God to slow down because of his pursuit for daily bread is fast running down the slope of unfruitfulness. If the cares of this world makes you neglect or doubt the promises of God for your life, then God is calling on you to hand over those cares to Him so He can give you peace in return. Glory to God!

So how do I go about handing my cares to God? Phil 4:6 has the answer; be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God and God’s peace that passes understanding will fill your heart. This is how to root out the cares of this world and give God a place to operate in your life. Do it now!

TITLE: COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

SCRIPTURAL TEXT: (Psalms 105:5)
“Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;”

Today offers another opportunity to take a retrospective glance at 2014. For all the challenges and difficult times, God stood with you and you made it thus far. Thus the psalmist instructs us in our text today to remember God’s marvellous works, for it is when we bring to remembrance all that he has done, that we can give him the praise and thanks due his Name.

Therefore, spend time today taking stock of all that God has done for you this year. Count your blessings in the company of your family, friends and loved ones, and give God thanks for all He has done. Be grateful even for each and every inch of progress. Glory to God!

Most importantly, let the New Year meet you in God’s Presence. Let nothing other than God be your preoccupation when the final seconds of the year 2014 would count. He has a word for you today about the incoming year; be in his presence to hear it tonight. Halleluyah!

Friday 2nd January, 2015.

TITLE: START WITH THE NEEDFUL

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE: (Luke 10:41-42)
“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Martha thought it necessary to entertain Jesus, yet the Master would have her understand something vital; the Word of God is more necessary than food, money, or any such thing you might have to give to God. This is deep wisdom!

Some things precede the others; certain things cannot be postponed or compromised. This is the truth that our opening scripture emphasises. The reason many Christians are knocked down when there are challenges is because they have not been diligent in spending time in fellowship with God, learning His Word and receiving light that would in turn strengthen them to overcome.

Even more, all that exists in this earthly realm has its source in the spiritual. It is therefore important that you start the year with a great sense of value for spiritual things and spiritual investments if you must prosper as God desires for you in the course of the year. Your time with God is a prerequisite for your spiritual wellness and prosperity; above all things, give it priority. Halleluyah!
