Best Footballer Awards: Individual Or Team? by oloriooko(m): 11:39am On Dec 02, 2014
This is my opinion.
I disagree totally with the annual award ceremony of picking best football player by FIFA, CAF or BBC
For the following reasons this ceremony should be reorganized:
1. Football is a team sport not individual sport.
2. No individual can singularly play all the eleven positions no matter how good he or she is.
3. Rewarding or awarding an individual is saying efforts of other members of the team are irrelevant to the success of the awarded individual.
4. Such awards should be pronounced in sports like tennis, golf, boxing etc.

Rather the award should be sectionalized into:
- best goalkeeper
- best defender
- best mid fielder
- best striker

With these more people will be appreciated instead of singing the praise of individuals who with the help of the team mates was able to shine among others.
