Hey guys, let's create a list of things we should or shouldn't do @ the table.

Here's one I learned from the Oprah Show:If you take a bite of food and find something 'unusual' in it,take it out with your cutlery, not with your hand or napkin and please don't spit it out,who knew that?I didn't grin

tpia:

don't dip/dunk your bread in the tea (naija habit cheesy)

take a bite of bread, followed by a sip of tea, then repeat.

Keep on repeating till the meal ends.

Pinky up if you care about appearances cheesy j/k

Some kinds of bread and cookies are actualy designed to be dunked it tea or other drinks though.

I can't give names right now.
I've seen adverts of cookies that specificaly show how well they hold up when dunked in tea.
There is a kind of bread (usualy sold dried - for campers and military guys) that has to be dunked to be eaten.
Also when you go to hotels and you are served with burgette(?) and soup, you eat the bread by dunking it in the soup (this is not tea, true but I'm trying to make a point).

if you are unsure what to do at the table. watch what others with manners are doing. it pays to order what you actually know and not what you think sounds nice.

depending on the sort of outing, PLEEEEASE SWITICH OFF YOU PHONE.

we had our James Bond xmas party over the weekend at plush hotel. In attendance were managers, CEO's etc etc. I stood up twice to take some calls. one of my colleagues pulled me aside and told me off.

The funny thing is that the rules change with locations. for instance:
iice:

Don't slurp especially soup
In China it is actualy considered to be a compliment to the host if you slurp your soup or noodles loudly since it means you are realy enjoying the meal.

Says who, where? I find it particularly disgusting when folks do the covering your mouth while picking their teeth thing. If you must pick your teeth do it in private, every act of grooming should be done privately and picking your teeth is considered grooming!

How do you take stuff out with cultery? That doesnt make sense.

Put the napkin to your face turn aside and spit it in.

~I'll rather a hand over the mouth anyday than see someone actually trying to dig out a mine in their mouth!!

but thats still not right. teeth picking is wrong if done in public. if you must pick your teeth, it gast to be done in private eg, the toilet.
