About GUTS and GUTSY

GUTSY is the buzzword for GIRLS UNITED TOGETHER FOR SUCCESS (GUTS) movement for the empowerment of underprivileged girls out of school in Nigeria to ask for their fundamental human rights to education and go to school like other girls in the most populous country in Africa where over 6 million poor girls are out of school.
For GUTS, every girl in Nigeria must go to school and have a good education from primary school to the university.

GUTS wants to be part of the solution to solve the problem of millions of girls deprived of education in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa where no fewer than 6.2 million girls are out of school and are being used for widespread child labor as hawkers and housemaids.

UNICEF reported that over 67% of the over 10 million Nigerian children out of school are girls from poor families who cannot afford to send them to school and majority of them end up as hawkers on the street and housemaids used for child labor and others become victims of child trafficking and prostitution.

We have seen them in reports on BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera and other news channels and in documentaries like Girl Up of the United Nations and Girl Rising of 10x10 and we are heartbroken for them. But heartbreaks and tears cannot solve problems. We have to speak out for them and become the voices for the voiceless and lift them up and out of their poverty and let them rise up and soar like the eagles to greater heights of their dreams. They also deserve the good education that we have and should never be left behind.

We want every deprived girl to have the GUTS to speak out and ask for her rights to EDUCATION and to join the GIRLS UNITED TOGETHER FOR SUCCESS (GUTS) and say YES we can go to school and succeed in the world!

The Vision
For GUTS, every girl in Nigeria must go to school and have a good education from primary school to the university.

The Mission
GUTS will campaign against every form of child labor in Nigeria and stop poor girls being used as hawkers and housemaids in every community in Nigeria.

The Solution
GUTS is going to use mass communication for mass literacy campaign for the education of all girls everywhere they are in Nigeria. The GUTSY messages will be spread by word of mouth, online and offline, on social network sites, publications in print media, radio, videos, TV, T-Shirts, Face-caps, scarves, bandannas, mugs, etc for the public enlightenment to support GUTS 24/7!

GUTS will host girl education campaigns in every state in Nigeria for the social community mobilization and sensitization of all Nigerian girls to unite and support themselves to have good education irrespective of their social class backgrounds.
Girls everywhere in Nigeria will contribute articles, photographs and videos on the forms and standards of education in their different locations in Nigeria and also send SOS messages on any girl who is not going to school so that GUTS can come to the rescue of such a deprived girl and help her to the nearest school of formal or non-formal education through the UNICEF in Nigeria.

What can you do to cooperate and support GUTS?

Just join us to spread the word and pass on the message by all means possible in mass communication.

Our girls are coming!

Our girls are speaking!

Our girls are talking!

They have got the GUTS!

This is fantastic!!.....@Orikinla we are hoping that this becomes a new phase of girl education in AFRICA in totality not ONLY NIGERIA.
Lets drive this motion. @Franca Aide we see your efforts to put smiles on the faces of these girls. Orinkinla we would be glad to see this lady on TV to show us her passion for these girls. Not only her pictures on the internet. Probably then we will be on the forefront for this project to actualize & succeed on this continent!
Recognition from UNICEF is a great plus i must say. Congratulations again!
