The offside rule in football has changed over the years as the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) continued to look for the best ways to curb players gaining an unfair advantage in their opponent’s territory to score. As the rules changed, so have there been goals that have been allowed to stand contrary to the rules that were made to curb them; the officials are to blame.
