"Whether you love Christmas or not, you should do your best to make this Christmas more special for your little ones. Christmas is a magical time for children, and I don’t understand those parents who tell their kids that Santa doesn’t exist and Christmas is just a holiday when all the family members gather together to have a festive dinner and spend a good time together. Perhaps you are busy with cooking and shopping, but find some time to make Christmas more special and magical for your children. Your younglings will thank you, I promise!

1. Read at least one Christmas story every day

Christmas isn’t complete without Christmas stories. To tell the truth, I still enjoy reading Christmas stories. Last Christmas my child suggested that we read one Christmas story every evening near our Christmas tree. It’s a fantastic idea! If you have lots of Christmas books, you may want to read more stories each day. Or, you can go to the nearest library and take a few books, as we did last year because we were on a very tight budget and we couldn’t afford to buy Christmas books. I don’t recommend reading stories online, because it doesn’t sound magical. Just, don’t forget about Christmas cookies and hot chocolate!

2. Watch one Christmas movie each day

Reading books is great, but let’s not forget about those fabulous Christmas movies, such as A Christmas Story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Christmas Carol, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and many others. Watch at least one Christmas movie each day to boost your family’s holiday spirit and spend some fun time together.

3. Cook together

Most moms don’t like to cook with kids since they are so curious, they ask many questions, they can spoil the dough and make a mess of your cooking. However, when you are attentive and when you explain to your children how to behave in the kitchen, there are no problems at all. Consider making Christmas together, or ask your kids to help you decorate a gingerbread house. It’s a huge responsibility for them, and they will be proud and happy that you allowed them to help you.

4. Set up your family activity Advent calendar

Grab some slips of paper and write down your favorite family activities on them. Stick them in your calendar’s spaces. Every morning ask your children to pull out one of the slips to see what family activity is waiting for them. It can be anything from playing a family-friendly board game, drawing and creating Christmas cards and gifts, to making cookies or a gingerbread house, building snowmen, and going skiing or sledging. There are plenty of fun family-friendly activities to try. Not only will you keep your little ones busy, they will remember this Christmas forever!

5. Enjoy Christmas lights

The holiday season is the perfect season to go for a walk or ride and enjoy the Christmas spirit. If you have a car, take a ride around your neighborhood or whole city to enjoy dazzling Christmas lights. If you don’t have a car, then go for a walk. It’s a great exercise for the entire family and a fun family activity at the same time. This is one of the simplest and cheapest ways to make Christmas more special for your Children.

6. Ask your children to decorate your house and Christmas tree

I know, I know, it sounds messy, but why not? Ask your kids to make their own decorations and let them decorate your house. When decorating your Christmas tree, make sure your kids don’t touch breakable ornaments, Christmas lights and other items that can be dangerous to them.

7. Help others

It’s important to teach your kids to help others. Christmas is the perfect time to do it. Teach your children that they don’t have to have lots of money to help others. Make Christmas cookies, cards and small gifts together and give your little homemade presents to those who are in need and who don’t have an opportunity to celebrate Christmas. You can also go to a local children’s hospital or church. Helping others around Christmas time is always a good idea to try.
