As 2014 draws to a close, we’re pleased to say that each of our projects saw great progress this year.
We have a plenty of reasons to celebrate after a productive year on all our projects.

In this regards, we've made a year-in-review video to showcase our projects in 2014. Click on the year-in-review video below to see our projects.

New Years usually comes with a look back at the previous year, and some resolutions for the coming year. Our 2015 resolutions are all lined up in the form of goals for each project, and we’re proud to say that our 2014 accomplishments will give us the boost we need to achieve our 2015 goals.

A little rest and relaxation will help us prepare to keep up the momentum in 2015. For just a few days from December 25 to January 4, our office will be closed.

Season’s Greetings to all and a Happy New Year – see you in 2015!

2014 | NextHome - Septic Tank

Building a Septic Tank: When Nature Gets in the Way, The NextHome Way.

ALTERNATIVE SEPTIC TANK DESIGN is required when we meet with difficult site conditions such as:

* Bad Soil with low percolation rate such as clay soil.
* Small building sites which lack adequate space to install conventional septic tank.
* Wet/Water logged sites with high groundwater or sites subject to runoff that cannot be diverted.
* All other difficult sites eg rocky, steep slope etc

ADVANTAGES

STRONG AND DURABLE
Concrete strengthens over time as opposed to brick/blocks that weaken over time.

FAST AND EASY
Installation is faster and easier. No need for plastering**

MONEY SAVER
Cheaper to install, requires little or no maintenance, and uses lesser material and labour as opposed to the conventional septic tank design.

VERSATILE
Watertight design is the most ideal solution for waterlogged areas. They are environmental friendly

ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY

** Provided you use marine plywood for the formwork.

AskBrabus Series: Concrete Block vs Poured Concrete Foundation

Poured concrete foundation wins hands down. It requires far less labor, it's less expensive (when you look at the complete system) and is more water tight which is one of the important features of a good foundation. The poured concrete's ability to resist leakage gives it a leverage over concrete block foundation.

As a seasoned IT professional, I've learnt to always deal with point of failures in my network designs and now that I'm into construction, I still put that into practice.
Blocks have a multitude of potential leakage points/points of failure - at every mortar joint. To achieve a watertight block foundation, I would recommend that a carefully designed drainage envelope be used on the outside surface of the block foundation. I know that there are builders who have had different experience with block foundations, hopefully they can share their views with us on this thread.

For me, poured concrete foundations win hands down.
