America’s Soft Power Technique[/size]

By Oliver Stone

January 03, 2015 "ICH" - (I) Interviewed Viktor Yanukovych (for) 4 hours in Moscow for new English language documentary produced by Ukrainians. He was the legitimate President of Ukraine until he suddenly wasn’t on February 22 of this year. Details to follow in the documentary, but it seems clear that the so-called ‘shooters’ who killed 14 police men, wounded some 85, and killed 45 protesting civilians, were outside third party agitators. Many witnesses, including Yanukovych and police officials, believe these foreign elements were introduced by pro-Western factions-- with CIA fingerprints on it.

Remember the Chavez ‘regime change’/coup of 2002 when he was temporarily ousted after pro and anti-Chavez demonstrators were fired upon by mysterious shooters in office buildings. Also resembles similar technique early this year in Venezuela when Maduro’s legally elected Government was almost toppled by violence aimed at anti-Maduro protestors. Create enough chaos, as the CIA did in Iran ‘53, Chile ‘73, and countless other coups, and the legitimate Government can be toppled. It’s America’s soft power technique called ‘Regime Change 101.’

In this case the “Maidan Massacre” was featured in Western media as the result of an unstable, brutal pro-Russian Yanukovych Government. You may recall Yanukovych went along with the February 21 deal with opposition parties and 3 EU foreign minsters to get rid of him by calling for early elections. The next day that deal was meaningless when well-armed, neo-Nazi radicals forced Yanukovych to flee the country with repeated assassination attempts. By the next day, a new pro-Western government was established and immediately recognized by the US (as in the Chavez 2002 coup).

A dirty story through and through, but in the tragic aftermath of this coup, the West has maintained the dominant narrative of “Russia in Crimea” whereas the true narrative is “USA in Ukraine.” The truth is not being aired in the West. It’s a surreal perversion of history that’s going on once again, as in Bush pre-Iraq ‘WMD’ campaign. But I believe the truth will finally come out in the West, I hope, in time to stop further insanity.

For a broader understanding, see Pepe Escobar’s analysis “The new European ‘arc of instability,’” which indicates growing turbulence in 2015, as the US cannot tolerate the idea of any rival economic entity http:///1yBmpHa . You might also see “Untold History” Chapter 10 where we discuss the dangers of past Empires which did not allow for the emergence of competing economic countries.

Yeah, Sir. US 'soft power technique' is indeed, unclad terror.

The people of the world hate America because of America’s policies. They do not hate the American people; they hate the American government. Is the American government a Satan or is it a benevolent Uncle Sam?
All over the world, the rash of terrorism is springing up. In a 1980 report on the subject of terrorism, the CIA defined terrorism as “the threat or use of violence for political purposes by individuals or groups whether acting for, or in opposition to, established governmental authority. When such actions are intended to shock or intimidate a target group wider than the immediate victims.”

Let us judge America by its own definition and actions;

From documents gathered through the Freedom of Information Act,Harper’smagazine published a list of covert actions initiated by the Government of the United States of America, through the CIA, without the knowledge of the American people, without debate in Congress and without any kind of appropriate response. These are foreign policies, not made even by presidents or senators. The real foreign policy, according to the scholars , is made by multinational corporations of America. They determine foreign policy; and if they determine foreign policy, they also determine domestic policy.
In 1963, an attempt to assassinate Fidel Castro was unsuccessful. There are murderers in the White House.
In the Dominican Republic, the U.S. organized a military coup to overthrow the government of Juan Bosch, which was successful.

In 1963 in South Vietnam, the U.S. precipitated conditions leading to the assassination of Ngo Dinh Diem. In Ecuador, they overthrow d govmt of Carlos Julio Arasemona.
In Chile, they gave $20m to Eduardo Frei Montalva, to bribe and defeat Salvador Allende in d election. They were successful.
In Uraguay, Peru, Brazil and Dominican Republic, they trained the police and secret services on assasination and interogation techniques to defeat opponents. They were unsuccessful.

In Iran, the U.S. overthrew the government of Mohammad Mossadeghand placed the Shah of Iran on the throne so that multinational corporations could get the oil out of Iran at a cheaper price.

In South Vietnam in 1964, the U.S. attempted to eliminate the Viet Cong infrastructure through more than 20,000 assassinations in an operation called the Phoenix program, and it was partially successful. These are murderers and butchers in the name of government.

In North Vietnam, the U.S. implemented a sabotage and ambush mission by U.S. Special Forces personnel and Nam tribesman. In Laos in 1965, the U.S. implemented sabotage and ambush missions called Operation Shining Brass, which was later renamed Prairie Fire. These are the names they give their wickedness. In Indonesia in 1965, the U.S. organized a propaganda campaign to overthrow the government of President Sukarno, who had organized the Bandung Conference that rejected all Europeans and united all the people of the planet. This campaign precipitated conditions that led to the massacre of more than half a million Indonesians. According to the Indonesians, they said it was nearly a million people that the CIA had killed in Indonesia.
In Chile, they organized a campaign of assassination, propaganda strikes and demonstrations to overthrow the government of Salvador Allende, leading to his assassination. In Angola, they provided military assistance to forces trying to defeat the popular movement for the liberation of Angola during the Angolan Civil War. The U.S. government was against the popular movement because the popular movement is for the good of the masses. The multinational bloodsuckers of poor people are the real culprits behind America’s foreign policy.
In Jamaica, they organized a 1976 military coup to overthrow the government of Michael Manley. They supported three attempts to assassinate Prime Minister Manley, who was elected by the masses who loved him. But White America did not want him in leadership, so they tried to assassinate him three times and were unsuccessful. Later, they found another way to unseat him—through the International Monetary Fund.

In Nicaragua, they recruited, trained and equipped anti-Sandinista forces for sabotage and terrorist insurgents into the country. In Suriname, the U.S. government was behind three attempts to overthrow the government of Colonel Desi Bouterse. In Guatemala, they organized a military coup to overthrow the government of Angel Anibal Guevara Rodriguez. In Chad, they provided military assistance to overthrow the government of Goukouni Oueddei. In Libya, the CIA orchestrated campaigns of economic pressure, propaganda and military maneuvers to destabilize the government of Muammar Gadhafi and assassinate him, which it later achieved by the sucessful 'colour revolution', and the subsequent bombardment.

But The Empire of chaos isnt done..

The horrors of the Empire continues;

1964, 1971 Bolivia.Coups. Victor Paz was overthrown in a CIA-supported coup. Paz had not supported the U.S. Cuban policy. Barrientos. a U.S. puppet, was installed. The U.S. took firm control of the Bolivian army, sent dozens of US advisors to La Paz and brought 1600 of Bolivia’s military officers back to the U.S. for training at U.S. military bases. The CIA spent several million dollars in 1966 and 1967. Ex-Nazi butcher, Klaus Barbie, helped form the Bolivian “national security state”, using torture.

1966. Ghana.Coup. Khwame Nkrumah was overthrown in a CIA-backed military coup after he tried to strengthen ties to the Soviet Union, East Germany, and China.

1967-1974. Greece.Coup and terror. Liberal leader George Papandreou was overthrown in a military coup backed by the CIA, the Greek military, and U.S. military stationed in Greece. Martial law, arrests, beatings, torture, killings followed, with 8,000 victims in the first month. Democracy was effectively killed.

1967- Cuba. Assassination. In CIA operation OPMONGOOSE, the Agency’s Cuban exile agents tracked down guerilla leader, Che Guevara, and executed him in Bolivia.

1960s – 1980s. South Africa.Terror. The CIA worked with South African intelligence to try to defeat Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress (ANC) and was responsible for the capture and imprisonment of Mandela. Mandela was to spend 28 years in prison. The CIA covertly sent arms to South Africa (in violation of UN and US policy) in order to support the apartheid regime there.

1968-1980s. Mexico. The “dirty war”. Hundreds of student protesters were killed in 1968. The killers were never brought to justice. Indeed, they had been hired by the government.

1970. Bolivia. Coup. CIA patsy Barrientos died in 1969, under suspicious circumstances. Juan Jose Torres was elected and immediately he seized land owned by foreign corporations, including Gulf Oil. Another CIA-directed coup overthrew President Torres and installed SOA-graduate, Banzer. He was a longtime friend of ex-Nazi, Klaus Barbie. The overthrow of Torres was accompanied by extreme violence; tin miners were violently suppressed and over 3000 leftists and union organizers were interrogated and “disappeared”. Barbie advised Banzer on techniques of internal suppression- including a system of concentration camps for important military and political prisoners. Banzer also oversaw one of the world’s most profitable drug empires- a multi-billion-dollar business- La Mafia Cruzena. 80% of the world’s cocaine originated from his fields in the Alto Beni. He was the primary supplier of raw coca and cocaine to the Medellin cartel.

1970. Cambodia.Coup and secret war, terrorism. During 1969, President Nixon and Kissinger ordered a secret “carpet bombing” against North Vietnamese troops on Cambodian territory under code name “Menu”. (This bombing was substantive grounds for impeachment of Nixon and was chosen as 4th proposed article of impeachment by the House Judiciary Committee. Prince Sihanouk, former king turned prime minister, was overthrown in U.S.-sponsored coup in March, 1970. Marshal Lon Nol of the Cambodian army, was installed as a U.S. puppet. In April, 1970, Nixon and Kissinger launched a large scale US military invasion of Cambodia and occupied the “parrot’s beak” area. The Khmer Rouge (Cambodian communist party modeled on the Chinese example) took power after a systematic campaign of terror bombing, ordered by Nixon and Kissinger in 1973. Operation Arclight began shortly after the Jan., 1973 Paris accords with Vietnam and had the pretext of halting a Khmer Rouge attack on Phnom Penh. US forces carried out 79,959 officially-confirmed sorties with B-52s and F-ll bombers against targets inside Cambodia, dropping 539,129 tons of explosives. (The estimated death toll: 300,000 to 500,000). In 1974, the Khmer Rouge, under Pol Pot, consolidated power, executing teachers, civil servants, intellectuals, i.e., those who could read and write. (This was similar to Operation Phoenix in Vietnam which was occurring at the same time). Nixon and Kissinger supported these genocidal policies because it fit with their overall aim to depopulate LDCs and because it helped consolidate their relationship with China. Over 2 million of about 7 million people were killed in the period 1969-79, per capita the perhaps the greatest genocide in the 20th century. Some estimate that 34% of population was wiped out.

1975. Saudi Arabia.King Feisal was murdered by CIA. In 1991, King Fahd was informed by Sec. of Defense Richard Cheney that they were to be a militarily occupied country in order to protect them from Iraqi aggression. U.S. troops remain there today, as well as in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and all the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Such are the unenviable records of the Hegemon, and they are still counting. Ukrain, Russia, Syria, libya, Hk.

Yes. Yanukovich was not innocent in terms of corruption, but he was overwhelmingly elected by 98% of the people, and so does not deserved the US brutal 'false flag' and coup that ousted Him.

Where did you get this number from?

And are you not aware of his people jailing opposition leaders to silence them?

He was a criminal and he got what he deserved. No pity at all, even though I don't like how the US and the EU initially reacted to the incidents taking place on the Maidan.

I wish every crooked politician ended up like him, running away from their own country, scared for their lives.
