5 Warning Signs That Your New Year Resolution Will Not Work by bookason100(m): 1:26am On Jan 09, 2015
Feels great to finally welcome the New Year right? It sure does (except for those that see life as a continuous merry go round). It’s an opportunity to build new habits and discard old ones, accomplish some ambitious goals, make more money, letting go of that relationship that is not going anywhere, finally finish that house you have been building…….. and the list continues. To accomplish all these, we fall back on your age long friend; our New Year resolution. Yes the New Year resolution. Many young and old, black and white still write it every year. But majority can’t even remember the time they wrote their last, and we all know the reason. “New Year resolutions don’t work”. If you fall into the category of people that think like this, then you might need a change of orientation. Though New Year resolutions are not automatic, but they still work if you are ready to put in a little sacrifice and discipline. If you have written one for 2015, then below are things you need to watch out for to avoid being the same you of 2014.
• Your resolutions are not practicable
This may sound hard, but however hard, it is still the truth. Still don’t get it, let me explain. As at December 2014, you weigh 120 Kg and your New Year resolution is to loose 50kg in the next four months. Fantastic and ambitious dream right. The truth is that you are unwittingly setting yourself up for heartbreak. Instead of making losing 50 kg your goal, make it a goal to reduce the amount of calorie intake you consume and exercising daily
• You are too impatient
Setting New Year goals with unrealistic deadlines is as good as not setting any at all. If the goal is likely to take a very long time to accomplish, the break it down as much as possible then give yourself some leg room
• The last time you looked at your resolution was first of January
It is very easy be passionate about making a positive difference in your life, look for a book then put everything down in writing. But if we must tell ourselves the truth, we don’t get to constantly revisit our resolutions for most times they are thrown away. If you want your New Year resolution to work this year, then write them and paste it on the wall.
• You open your doors wide to procrastination
If you must accomplish all your new year goals, then one of your most important goals is to play deaf to the voice of procrastination else you will end up re-writing all your new year resolutions for 2016
• You simply don’t believe New Year resolutions work
Writing New Year’s resolution for writing sake is as good as not writing at all. You must refuse to answer the call of doubt within you and from others, to cruise through 2015 instead of falling back to where you started from.
