I didn't initially observe what you've described above upon seeing the picture. The slave chains being painted gold; could it also symbolise materialism, consumerism, defeatism? Born onto lands of bountiful natural wealth, we still don't have much. We carry on painting our chains gold and accepting our situation in this world without much action but have trivial life aspirations. We shouldn't be painting our chains, we should be breaking our chains!!!

Just thinking out loud. I read your observation and thought 'wow, that's more like it!' smiley

Your own observation is more apt sister. Did you wander why he used a black man?
A white man insults a black man by calling him "nigger", the next thing you know black men start to call themselves nigger and think its swag. Black american men call their women bitches and think its cool.

A white man in slave chains...

That's serious head f℃kage. There are/have been many white men burdened with their own chains today/historically, but can they don the slave chains without it seeming disrespectful, almost blasphemous? Blacks do not own the chains, but the chains have become symbolistic of black oppression. But if that is true, why would we want to hold on to our chains? It makes me wonder.

That's the black man nature for you. We turn our chains into gold, thereby making it even harder to break.
