We know that our smartphones are some of the most useful gadgets for helping us achieve our goals.
A lot of people would have started the New Year with firm resolutions to lose weight, but guess what? About 70% of these people will abandon this noble intention by the second or third week of January and continue down the slippery slope of weight gain.
We have compiled in no particular order, a list of our favourite apps that you can download right now to help you stay focussed.
So hopefully you already got one of these but if you don’t, then you can make a choice from our selection.

MyFitnessPal Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker


Available on Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows smartphones – Key benefits include a huge database of food items for calculating calories, barcode scanner, recipe calculator, exercise tracker, and a whole lot more.

Nike Training Club

Key benefits include over 100 workouts from top trainers and structured training programmes to keep you toned up and in shape - available on Android, iOS, and Blackberry.

Fitocracy

Great App if you are the type to get bored easily making it difficult to stick to your weight loss programme. This app features an interactive online game based on tracking your weight loss progress and is sure to keep you seriously engaged - available on iOS.

Strava

This App is most useful for the running or cycling buff. It uses GPS technology to track the distance covered and will calculate calories burnt using your personalised data - available on iOS and Android.
