The event, which took place recently at the PACF building near Students PYE, Jibowu Yaba Lagos had in attendance many accounting students, Professionals and Academics from Lagos and beyond who converged to celebrate the achievements of one of Nigeria’s youngest pride in the profession. The three books according to Prof. S.B Adeyemi from the University of Lagos bring into play copious and graded exercises which students can readily follow. They have been packaged in a way that students of Accounting in Polytechnics and Universities can easily make reference to in the classroom for Advanced Financial accounting and corporate reporting. According to Prince Casmir Idekwulim, the author, lecturer at Students PYE, in reacting to state of education in the country and Lagos in particular, “we need to improve the academic and educational sector of this country. What is happening at the moment in terms of LASU strike is not accommodating at all; when education is affordable, beneficiaries will be able to add positive values to the entire society but if they fail, many people will be denied access to go to school and they will in return constitute nuisance to the society” In analysing the academic usefulness of the books, Casmir pointed out that the principles embedded in the books can ensure a sane academic atmosphere for accounting students preparing to pass through the various professional exams. Casmir has been a resource person to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) on Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting from 2009 till date on ICAN examination moderation and revision programmes. He has had series of training on IFRS and other Financial Reporting issues. He has trained some members of staff of Unity bank of Nigeria Plc, Nigerian Port Authority, Oil and Gas companies and others on IFRS and Financial Statement Analysis. The public presentation of the books was witnessed by Hon. Silas Udom, Mr. Romanus Nwaeze, Pastor Joseph Aborowa, Mr. Muyiwa Aderibigbe, Mr. Muyiwa Fashakin, Mr. Badru Olanrewaju amongst others.
