Out of contract Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is currently the favorite from a shortlist of three coaches penciled down to handle the Burkina Faso senior National team.
53 year old Keshi is the youngest among the three men shortlisted for the job by the country FA on Wednesday, younger than Milovan Rajevac who is 61 years old and Gernot Rohr who is 62 years old.
The AFCON 2013 winning coach currently enjoys the favor and backing of FA boss Sita Sangare, who viewed the Nigerian as a young alternative above the other two shortlisted for the job.
Keshi failed to qualify Nigeria for the cup of Nations after winning it in 2013, ironically beating Burkina Faso in the final, the team he is now in contention to coach.
Sangare according to the country media, favors a young manager who will be on a renewable long term contract to succeed Paul Put, who failed to take the team past the group stage at the just concluded cup of Nations, despite reaching the final two years ago.
His other contestants for the job also have knowledge of Africa Football as Rajevac steered Ghana to the final of the 2010 African Cup of Nations and the last eight of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Meanwhile Rohr took Gabon to the quarter-finals of the 2012 Nations Cup on home soil and also managed Niger at the 2013 edition but failed to get them out of the group stage.
A new manager for the Stallions is expected to be named in three weeks.
