My little observation is that Ogbomoso indigenes are very enterprising and great travelers but build houses in their town and often go back home on retirement. Therefore the town is highly urbanised. Many of them grew up in Ghana or the North. The current Oba lived in Jos and owns properties there I was told. Many who were born and grew up in the North have returned home because of the insurgency.

Before LAUTECH there were the Baptist Mission/hospital and Federal Government College which brought in more people. Of course there are small scale businesses too. It's a big town anyaway.

However, Lagos is a city. A city is a geographical expression while a stae is an administrative expression. They are two entirely different parameters. To understand better, State,Region, Country are administrative. City, Village, Town, Continent---these are geographical expressions. So Lagos is a city and a state at the same time.

The best way to measure city populations in this day and age in the absense of census include
1) Number of active phone lines
2) Google Maps
3) Transport Patterns

Square Kilometer has nothing to do with city population.
Thats why population density is a compulsory composite of city data analytics.

You probably do not know much about Ilorin or never been there. Go and check the official population of Nigerian cities in 2006 and tell me the position of the two cities. The city is growing like grass.

Bro is not a lie, Ogbomosho is the second biggest city/town after Ibandan in the whole of SW, take a trip & tour the city/town its will clear your doubt, have been there before honestly ogbomosho is big & densely populated despite no major industry whatsoever there. Am 100% sure the population of Ogbomoso city/town is more than that of Benin city (not Edo state oh) because have been to both & did my survey.
