YBNL Movement has been rolling up massively in the Nigerian mainstream music industry. The Gang leader, Olamide has proven his street credibility beyond any doubt, repping the street on and on. In another way of giving back to street, Olamide has also signed on his label, co-street fighters; the likes of Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun and Xino. Not also forgetting the vocalist, Viktoh. Of them all, Lil Kesh has been projected overtime following the release of his monster-hit, “Shoki”. Most people are not aware that “Lyrically” was actually that song that got Lil Kesh signed on to the label. Yes, he truly released the song before getting signed onto the label. With so much energy and incredible flows on display, Lil Kesh was seen as the next potential artiste to lock down the Nigerian Hip hop circus. But bad as it seems, our beloved isn’t performing any better. On Olamide’s recent album, “Street OT” he got below an average performance on that joint titled “Oga Nla” alongside Pasuma. He bounced on the song like a confused rapper with a very rash freestyle. Of course he had all the time to deliver a perfect rap verse on that jam instead of mincing words in such a ‘wack’ manner. So why ruin it like an impromptu live freestyle? Lil Kesh’s latest jam, “Gbese” is somewhat another disappointment. The rapper is yet to make a good follow-up to his “Lyrically” hit. We don’t want to conclude that the YBNL lacks the lustre to shine in contemporary Nigerian music industry, Nevertheless, Kesh has not given us that conviction yet that he’s indeed credible in this game. This is just an observation, perhaps he needs to keep him game tighter ’cause the industry frowns at indolence. http://www.talkglitz.com/2015/02/28/lil-kesh-not-getting-any-better/ |
