Got pictures of weird and odd foods we have in nigeria? Post it Here

1) Edible Winged termites
It goes by different names such as ; Aku "Igbo", Esunsun "Yoruba", Chinge "Hausa", Ogan , Edon doroko "Bini".
They're usually pushed out during the raining season. Termites are rich in protein and packed full of nutrients . Believe me when i say it's really tasty with a nutty flavor. They can be eaten alone as a snack or as an accompaniment to a number of savory dishes.

Just pick it from the ground and land it inside water, it cannot fly again.

In the morning, scoop it from water and fry. Delicious..
Copy. Check these out...

Go do the experiment first.

Used to eat this one when we were younger. Late mum used to bring it from the farm. They are gotten from the coconut or palm tree that has fallend and rotted. I think its called "nkpurikpu" or "nten" in ibibio language. My eldest sister use to prepare it well, fried with pepper and palmoil with some spices. I remember d skin used to be tough lik ur eating paper then the stuff inside was sweet. Then she and my oda older ones will tease me and my younger broda to giv up d head of d stuff ,dat if we eat it,the head will come alive inside our tummy and bite us. Loool! Now I know was a ploy for dem to eat it,kai dos my siblings wonderful o

Oh! I did not understand that part. Have always considered the water-in-basin technique to only be useful for disabling a large number of the insects from flying and thereafter collecting them for consumption.

I can imagine the kind of magical visual effects the wet wings of termites that successfully take flight from the water would create.
You care to share what it really looks like? The next termite nuptial flight is a long way from now. I am concerned that I would miss the event thus preventing me from experimenting.
