Hi everyone. I'm a graduate of the Federal University Of Petroleum Resources Effurun (B.Sc. Physics), a prospective NYSC member. I narrowly missed the 2:2 line. (made a 3rd) Nothing to be proud of but its no use crying over spilled milk. I intend doing a Pgd immediately after my youth service in applied geophysics then proceed to M.Sc Petroleum geophysics. Pls i need candid advice as to my choice of M.Sc degree course. I have a feeling that an M.sc (petroleum geophisics) might limit my employability opportunies to oil servicing firms as compared to other applied geophysics courses such as environmental/engineering/groundwater geophysics . Plus considering my B.sc degree class, is it necessary i opt for the pgd and Msc courses abroad? Thanks.

I understand there are some proffessional certifications i will need to acquire to boost my employability prospect but at the basic level won't an Msc in Petroleum geophysics industrially narrow my relevance at the entry level to crude oil prospecting? or do i equally stand a good chance at being hired by other mineral exploration firms?

on't know about all those sciency stuff, but sounds like a good course to me. And I don't think u have much option of switching considering ur cgpa

Just to widen ones chance of geting job...............my opinion tho!!!

Mehhhnnnn.....this has been much of an heartache for me since April...I have been been in dilemma as to what option of geophysics to march into....Petroleum geophysics is economically enticing but so damn narrow....Still not made my mind till date#iamstillconfused
