SPECIAL OLYMPICS NIGERIA is a affiliate of SPECIAL OLYMPICS INTERNATIONAL a global non-profit organization created by the Joseph P. Kennedy foundation.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS NIGERIA is launching a program with Grassroot Soccer, a partner organization based in South Africa that has implemented its life skills curriculum in more than 50 countries since its in 2001. Grassroot Soccer is a sport for development organization that uses football as a vehicle to raise HIV/AIDS and malaria awareness among youth, and provide them with life and coping skills.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS NIGERIA will begin implementing Grassroot Soccer curriculum in mid-2015 and is expecting to reach over 2,000 youth in the initial year.

What skills do you need to become a Coach:
Passion for working with people with Intellectual Disabilities (ID).
Passion football sports.
Ability to work within a team.
Energy and commitment to the program.
Communication in English (written and oral).

What will you get from being volunteer coach?

Volunteer agreement receiving stipend.
Training in Grassroot Soccer health and life skill curricula.
Development courses in areas including health information,financial literacy,facilitation skills,leadership and communication.
Opportunities for employability training.
