All you need is just 5 O' level credit obtained at not more more than two sittings to be registered as a student and then you can write the exams. The ICAN professional exam is a series of exams which after it is completed you become a Chartered Accountant. The ICAN Accounting Technicians Scheme(ATS) is a one of the two sections of the ICAN professional examination which has three stages with each stages having four papers or courses as follows.

On completion of the ATS section you'll be given a certificate and inducted as an ASSOCIATE ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN(AAT), then you can proceed to the second section and write just two stages out of the three stages and you become a chartered accountant.
