"Resultant Effect Of Six Months ASUU Strike On Kogi State University" by IsahBala: 9:37am On Apr 18, 2015
The last industrial action by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)that paralyzed academic activities in Nigeria Universities was believed to be the last Industrial action in Nigeria Universities after making a significant outcome as the Union stood on their ground to fought the government to perform their duty and transform Nigeria Universities to meet international standard and also taking into consideration, the welfare of the universities lecturers.
They refused to be intimidated and at last, their struggle yielded a positive result after they made the government and various bodies and organization to put down their signatory as a back up to the agreement reached between the union and the Federal government.

This tremendous achievement has never been recorded in the history of the numerous Strike action embarked by the union before.
The overwhelming achievement of the union made many public analyst, public speakers and students to Conclude that the six months ASUU strike will be the last industrial action in the history of the country. It brought excitement and euphoria in the minds of millions students as they thought that their days in the varsity will not be truncated by Industrial action again, but little did we know that this excitement and euphoria will soon be short-lived by the corrupt leaders we have as our representatives.

Academic activities in Kogi State University has been crippled by Industrial action by the School ASUU chapter since February 24, 2015.
According to a close friend who is an executive in National Association of Kogi State Student (NAKOS) " the lecturers are fighting for KSU share in the 200 Billion naira released by the federal government to Nigeria universities during the 2013 ASUU strike. The school got 1.5 billion naira as their own share."
It's no longer news that, it has been alleged that the Kogi state Governor is linked with the embezzlement of the money ment for the state University from the 200 Billionaire naira released for Nigeria universities after the Six months ASUU strike.
It was still the same Governor that his convoy killed ex-ASUU president, Professor Fetus Iyayi on 13 November 2013 at Banda village along the Lokoja-Abuja highway when the union was doin its best to revive the lost glory of Nigerian varsities, now the same Governor has embezzled the share of the money ment for his state university.
Since 24 February, the academic activities in the institution has been crippled, little or no attention is given to it by media organizations interms of reportage of the strike that has left more than 20,000 students of the institution at home.

To crown it all, the institution's students' Unionism on the hand have failed to live to their expectations, they failed to reciprocate the mandate given to them as student representative In time like this.
It's barely two months now, we are yet to see their action to save the citadel of learning and the future of we students that's dangling and being used for gambling by the State Governor.
We commend the courageous effort of the Students' Union Government in Lagos State University (LASU), during hike in their tuition. They stood against it and refused to be intimidated and at the end they won the battle for the entire students of the institution, instead of the Student Union in Kogi State University to imitate this, they decided to play politics and issue empty threat with out action.

I challenge the students' Unions in Kogi State university today to wake up from their slumber and live to their expectation to save the future of Kogi State University students that's use for gamble by the state Governor.
