HOW TO CREATE A 3D TEXT IN ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR.
I know that most application’s 3D interface would not be like what you desire for your designs.
Here are the simple steps to getting 3D text effect in adobe illustrator.

Step 1:
Open adobe illustrator from your desktop or anywhere the application was saved. If your don’t have the application you can order from http://www.adobe.com/products

Step 2:
Create new document of any width and size, just as above.

Step 3:
Type in your letter. For the purpose of this example we are going to be using letter A.


Step 4:
Right click on your mouse pad and select create outline.


Step 5:
Choose any stroke colour and with. For more about stroke patterns and fill visit http://www.graphixdoor.

Step 6:
Go to menu tab and click on effect and click on 3D extrude. A dialog box as the one below will appear. Now this is where the look and fill will begin to appear.


Note that you can set angle to any desired angle of your choice as well as bevel, plastic surfacing, and do not forget to check on the preview check box for a preview of you job.

Step 7:
Now go to object on the menu bar and click on expand appearance your object should look like the one below.

Step 8:

Step 9:
Now select the parts that you wants to be identified as a section and move to the next slide. This can be done be either going to the path finder section on the right tabs and click on unit or go to object and click on paths and click on join paths.

Step 10:
Then now begin to apply gradient to the extruded parts.

Step 11:
Now this is how your final image should look like.
