Most of these funny words are a result of language and dialectal differences e.g /air/ instead of /head/.
Most of them were not formed on purpose.
Another reason is as a result of laziness in pronouncing words properly. E.g we all know that it is /chewing gum/ but we call it chingum instead of pronoucing it appropriately.
Another reason is the influence of Pidgin English on Nigerian English. We all know that people from the Niger delta esp Warri have an uncommon pidgin English. I am always thrilled when i listen to MCs like Bovi,Gordons perform on stage. Their brand of pidgin is something else.
At the end of the day,we have formed a unique Nigerian identity that can only be found amongst born and bred naija people.
