of course I know the car. we used to call it taxi cos that's what it was mainly used for when I was a kid. also the older version of flat boot Mercedes with vertical head lamps and Volvo 244 with round head lamps and protuberant bumbers were also common. my dads first car was a front wheel drive Subaru (then, FWDs were rare) he bought in the late seventies. the pictured 404s look beautiful. the ones I met (taxis) were all rickety

Peugeot 404 was "the car" of the early 70s except you owned a Mercedes Benz 280s. By late 70s Peugeot 504 GL or L was already the in thing and 404 was naturally relegated to "nuturu m, nuturu m". The early 80s saw the emergence of 504 GR, and the 2000 version with a/c (ntu oyi) before 505 was rolled out in the late 80s. And that began the decline of Peugeot cars in Naija.

This car needs to be resurrected and a close look at it indicates that it carries more swag when compared to the recently trending VW BEETLES..

This car is a classic. Saw a neat one with AC in Abuja. If not for traffic, I would have gone to greet the driver.

if anyone find this car now it would be luxury. the material be like pan. my dad had one then and beetles which we call buswagen

my principal used one. we students called him MR. BAKO and he (my principal) cherished it a lot. I can vividly remember where he always park it under a mango tree.
