Nollywood actress Susan Maxwell has said Nigerians prefer light skinned ladies. In a recent interview, the actress opened up on the inspiration behind her skin care products.

“Many people are of the opinion that light-skinned ladies are more attractive, and everything they wear shows off better and that is why I am here to help people enhance their complexion. I used to be very dark; I never thought I could become as fair as I am. I did it because I want to practice what I preach. I want them to see me and be blown away, especially those who knew me when I was dark. Because what I’m giving people isn’t something that would damage their skin but repair their skin, I use it on myself as well. If I wasn’t in this line of business, I probably wouldn’t have toned my skin at all. I don’t call it bleaching. I call it skin restoration.”

Who cares? This light skin vs dark skin debate is retired! At the end of the day, we are all black people and all beautiful.

To those girls (and guys) bleaching their skin. I pity you. Why risk the long-term implications? Realise that we all find love eventually whether dark as coal or white as snow. You are good enough the way you are.

You can't really blame women that bleach. African men generally prefer lighter skinned ladies, Period!!!

I can only imagine the loss of confidence, self esteem and the feeling of dejection by a dark skinned lady who is always overlooked whenever she steps out with her fair skinned friends. In a gathering of girls, no matter how well dressed the dark skinned girls are, a guy walks into the room and his attention would first be caught by the fair paw-paw; that is just the way African men are wired.

Though I personally prefer dark skinned girls, but I represent a microscopic minority of black men.

That's an insult to fair ladies. The risk of sharing a loose lady with another man is higher.... That's the right thing to say. Skin complexion does not determine promiscuity.
