Religion And Politics In Nigeria; The Similarities. by plaetton: 2:26pm On May 05, 2015
The election season in Nigeria has just ended.
We are now in the middle of the "CONGRATULATIONS" season.

During this "Congratulatory" season, and like the election season before, all sorts of absurdities abound.

The "Congratulatory" season is a special season where everyone who is who(lol) or who wants to be who (lol) pay the customary pilgrimage to the high mountain to congratulate the newly elected god, sorry, I mean leader.

Here, we see high and low chiefs, political jobbers, men in flowing agbadas, Dashikis, Red caps, French suits, Italian suites, and of course, miniskirts, queue in to hail and pay homage to new god /leader of heaven and earth.

And like all pilgrims, each comes with a long list of prayer requests for the newly presumed omni omni alpha and omega.
Many are beseeching the new god to help keep them out of jail, exile, and probes for their past sins.
Others are beseeching the new god for sustenance in the form of fat juicy contracts.

Still, others are beseeching him to grant them something as humble as UNDUE ADVANTAGES over others.

Many , perhaps the majority, come for bountiful harvest, beseeching and reminding the almighty one , in typical Nigerian fashion, that it is time to reap the political seeds that they had sowed previously.

And like all devout practioners of foreign religions, these pilgrims are loud in their prayers, and often offend and constitute a nuisance to their neighbors.
They peddle ideas and concepts that they barely understand, and of course, deep inside their hypocritical hearts, they hardly understand, let alone believe in the things that they peddle.

This "Congratulatory" season, once again, demonstrates the folly of adopting foreign religions without an understanding of the relevant philosophical underpinnings.

Just like in our imported wishy washy religions, Nigerian politics is devoid of any meaningful ideology. Like the religions we practice, most don't know the meaning of ideology, let alone being able to articulate one.
We go with whichever way the wind blows.

Just like in a typical Nigerian church service where the most repeated and most revered phrase is "praise the Lord, alleluya",
in Nigerian politics , the most important and revered philosophy is "APC.. Power"
or "PDP ...Power".

Good similarities sir.

Religion and politice are two instrulment use in either controling or deluding peoples mind, they seems to be tided together as far as leadership is concern in nigeria, our politician are a religious people, i belief there is a trick in camoflaging with religion, we will never know until we dellibrately seperate religion from politice, that nigerian musician was right( religion na politice)
grin
A concept of spiritual leadership and political leadership, the people must be subdued spiritually for effective political control.

The homage thing is true is liken to sacrificial giving and sowing seed of faith in other to rip bountifully, you may call it bribe and gamble.

The gamble in politice do take place in religion too, but you may phisically rip bountifully in politice if you find favour in the elected god as you called it, but not sure of religion though except that the works of your hands shall be blessed(the Bible said)

Will be back
