Job Title: Treasury Accountant

Location: Lagos

Reporting to: Treasurer, West Africa

Purpose of Role

The position is required to provide support for the Treasurer, West Africa in the areas of cash flow planning, management of banking operations and foreign currency exposure. He will assist in ensuring minimisation of interest expense and arrangement of adequate corporate loans, overdraft facilities for the business & key distributors. He will also support, on an adhoc & routine basis, the  overseeing of Treasury operations across West Africa and the management of all Treasury related ledger accounts.       

Context:

The Treasury Accountant will be responsible for the implementation of Treasury policies and procedures, payment to overseas suppliers. He will ensure strict adherence to all Central Bank Monetary & foreign currency circulars. He will support the Treasurer in dividend planning and payment, Technical Services Fees and Royalties remittance. Provide input into Project evaluation & examination of funding options, export sales proceed administration and collection of export grant from the government.
   
Principal Accountabilities:

§ Analyse daily cheque payments / sundry receipts across the business and prepare daily / weekly bank positions report.
§ Supervise the computation and verification of all bank charges, i.e. overdraft interests, C.O.T., B.A. / C.P. charges and L.C. charges before ledger posting.
§ Preparation of monthly Net cash position and commentaries on working capital analysis.
§ Monitor the weekly transfer nationwide of bank lodgement in respect of sales to Main Account in Ikeja
§ Ensure adequate funding of imprest bank accounts for sales department and ensure strict adherence to limits.
§ Supervise the cross-checking and ledger processing of all the Weekly Cash and Expenditure Returns from the Sales Offices.
§ Management of debt factoring, cheque discounting, lease and other similar arrangement with banks.
§ Keep safe custody of all, Main Account and Import Duty Cheques.

Dimensions:

§ Monitor nation wide sales proceed collection into banks & preparation of reports thereon.
§ Monitor bank’s credit exposure to distributors and ensure prevention of incidence of returned cheques.
§ Monitor bank interest expense to ensure it is in line or below the annual forecast. 
§ Monitor payment of Technical Services Fees, Royalties and inter-company debt as when due.

Qualification & Experience Required

§ Graduate calibre plus membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
§ Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience with proven integrity. (Preferably from the Banking Sector).
§ Ability to take commercial insights and translate into the Organisation & People Agenda.
§ Proven ability to facilitate, persuade, influence and build credibility with all levels and all functions.
§ Analytical, interpretative and decision-making skills.
§ Excellent coaching and relationship building skills. 
§ Sound IT knowledge in the use of outlook (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
§ Working knowledge in accounting package-SUN LA module including vision
