1. Your newborn stares into your eyes
Your baby is actually working hard to memorise your face. He is naturally drawn to your face. Your baby's attachment to you will be strengthened by your mutual gaze. He doesn't understand anything else about the world, but he knows you're important.

Between eight months and 12 months old, he'll start to scrunch his face and look around when
you leave the room. And he'll smile when you return. Your baby is beginning to see you as a safe base. He can move away from you and explore the world, but will then return for support and comfort.

loving you. In fact, they show he feels secure with
you. He feels able to show his true feelings with

meaning of, "I love you", but their actions speak
louder than words. It'll be you he runs to when
he when he falls over or feels sad.

Whether it's a bloom from the garden, a finger-
painted heart, a sparkly stone or another gift, it
comes from the heart.
Children learn to give, as well as to receive, by
observing us. Children copy our behaviour, both
good and bad. If you have treated your child with
love and care, this is when you will see that he
has learnt to love and knows how to show it.

6. Your preschooler wants your approval
Your child will start to be more cooperative
around the house and he'll look for chances to
impress. "Look at me!" will become a
catchphrase.

7. Your school-age child trusts you with secrets
It may be an embarrassing moment when he fell
over or a sad moment when he was told off. He
trusts you not to share these moments with
everyone, even if he shies away from your hugs in
public.
