About Online Business... N Why I Think They Fail. by roaringlamb01(m): 2:57pm On May 19, 2015
Because of the state of the nation, Nigerians have been looking to any and every area for another source of income. And that is not a bad thing in itself. One of the areas that is being explored more and more is the scope of the internet... or "IT", as many people will try to rename it.

One look through google search engine on "how to make money online" will give you 566,000,000 results... That is half a billion questions with answers. Wow!

But why are Nigerians still struggling to make money off the internet? Or aren't we?
I'm certainly no expert but one learns from his experiences. Yeah?
So, I will just write my thoughts concerning the matter...

1. In no particular order, one of the reasons why this is so is that, the first and foremost thing on the minds of every young dude is "Money"...
Money is important... Yes! But over quality and integrity No! Most of the best selling "internet sensation ideas" are based on providing one service or the other, regardless of how small. I think the best thing should we ask ourselves is what exactly we want to do for "these people?".
Whether it is, fun/excitement, information, a service and what not... It has to be clear... Trust me, money will follow.

2. Jack of all trade... I'm the number Jack in Nigeria. LOL.
We are Nigerians. If you are a specialist, you will be scammed by the next Jack. We want maximum profit. I lie?
But if you must be a Jack, be a master of half of what you trade in. lol.. But the truth is that many have become master of none. Leading to low quality works.
Only you wants to do SEO, Google Campaign, develop the site, do all the graphics, develop the site's content and be the admin, all at once...
we must be able to sub-let or share the load. And stick to one to two skill sets. Forget all those organisation that will write plenty "requirements"... They just wanna pay less for more.

3. Seriousness. For a lack of a better word. Many people who want to do any internet based business, don't know what it really takes to set up one... It takes consistency and serious focus. If you have one in mind, you must do the ground work, the research, the planning, the team (if necessary), the financial input and so forth... These things take time!
I have met many people who are looking for people to add to the team for an idea or plan. But within a fee weeks, their passion is gone. Others actually start off and the going is good. But they can't pus for the next stage or loss passion... The whole thing flops.

4. This isn't Europe or America. Many of the researches are foreign based and relate directly to the happenings and peculiarities of their countries. Since we are mostly a copy and paste nation, these things cannot work here. For example, most Nigerians are still skeptical about online market... If you focused only on installing that means of payment, you will lose more customers. We can't just copy n paste... We must really consider our peculiarities before we can proceed... Once again, time is involved and patience is key...

to be continued...
