Most often, you hear exclamations in our local tribes and dialects when something shocking, hilarious or joyful happens/occurs. For example, the Hausa will exclaim, " waayoo allah!" and the Tiv will say "uuuhu, kawe?," and so on. So guys and gurls lets hear your exclamations. Please endeavour to state the name of the tribe/dialect so that we can know ourselves better.

These are some that we say in our house often.
[li]"Kpoo"- I picked up from my father. It's like an emphatic "Yes". As far as I know, it's an Ngwa Igbo thing. Another way of saying it would be "eheehh!!"/"mhmmm!" (generally said by Igbo people).
[/li]
[li]"Uwa mee!" - My mother says it alot. It's the one expression in the house that is hers. It's an expression of surprise.
[/li]
[li] "Gbuoo!" -  I've also picked this one up from my mother. It's also an expression of surprise. As far as I know, this is an Alayi Igbo type of thing. [/li]
[li]"Waa oo!" - I've heard some Igbo people say this. Another expression of surprise. [/li]
[li]Sometimes we'll also say Chineke mee!! or Chineke lee!! and Chileke lee!! I say "Chileke lee" as opposed to the other two variants.[/li]
[li]"Ah Ah!!" - This is one that used to be very common for almost every Igbo (and Nigerian) that I knew. This one's a flexible expression, but generally it's used for surprise.[/li]
[li]"Hu-u" - It's an expression that is used when telling some to take something that you're giving them. It's derived from the tonal sounds of "gwere" (in my dialect), "were", "welu", "gweru", "gwelu", "chiri" (all meaning "take"wink.[/li]
