Skye Bank Staffs voice out of unjust treatment. by bcomputer101: 12:32pm On May 20, 2015
in reaction to the previous complain thread of UBA and FCMB staffs: https://www.nairaland.com/2324561/what-fcmb-contract-staff-said

• I'm once a staff of Mainstreet Bank recently acquired by Skye Bank BUT still undergoing integration process.
Actually the DSA(Direct Sale Agent) of Mainstreet Bank/Skye Bank are been paid a ridiculous salary amount of 38,000 naira only per month. With an irregular variable pay that ranges between 316-800 naira monthly.
it's is ironic to note that the so call Core-Staffs expect the DSA's to move around sourcing for funds and transporting themselves around the town with there own personal money and expecting the DSA's to make sacrifices they can never make.
These sacrifices include:
1- The use of their personal money for documentation of accounts.
2- The use of their money for address verification.
3- Expecting the DSA's to bring ALL their family account, while they(Core-Staffs) network their salary to other banks for FIXED DEPOSIT.
4- Using of our personal money to buy call card for follow up of KYC(Know Your Customer).
5- using your personal money to transport yourself to any location targeted for storm marketing.

MY TESTIMONY: of recent I just got a Federal job in one of the reputable Federal Agencies in Abuja and I thank God for his mercy so far.

MY VIEW: Is high time will pick/take up a struggle against this capitalist to PLEASE INCREASE THE SALARIES of this Direct Sale Agents(DSA) and the Front Tellers.

#Syke/Mainstreet/UBA/FCMB_must_increase_their_DSA/TELLER_salaries#

@MOD, please do the needfull.

Let Nigerians, our Senators, Honourable, Kings, Clerics and the world et:al see what is happening in our banking system of today.
Thanks!

That is your starting point. You were not forced to accept the offer. But I advice you to start planing for alternative/better job.

The desperation we exhibit when looking for job sometimes blinds our eyes of judgement before taking up some jobs. One needs to understand the terms of a contract before entering into it. Being DSA means you are not a staff of the bank but an agent and you have to determine how you are to be paid at the end of the month and this is a function of how many accounts you bring in a month and how much you have in your cabal. By implication it then means that the 38k paid monthly is a stipend for transport, phone calls et al. If you ask me, I will say I'll rather stay unemployed (at least for the mean time) than enslaving myself with a job that will deny me time to look for more rewarding job. I pray things get better in this country so that graduates will not be forced by circumstances to take up jobs that they wouldn't have ordinarily.

UBA, FCMB, Access bank, now Skye.. which bank is next?? undecided undecided

And I keep seeing 20k, 25k, 30k, 40k as salaries shocked cry
I think contract staffing should be stopped in Nigeria. .. How can an entry level staff in access bank be collecting over 200k whereas a DSA, who brings profits by bringing customers has 35k only as salary? ... it's really beyond my understanding shaa...

Must one work in a bank? The salary has been clearly stated on the offer letter, so why complaining?

If you complain of contract staff, then try unemployment.
Some ppl even work for free to gain experience. Contract work is a temporary job and by all means we should see it as such.

I worked in Uba many years back as a contract staff with a salary of 30k and I don't regret it till today. The 30k helped me for transport for other job interviews cos I had zero naira left for the shuttling for pH and Lagos interviews. I may not have gotten my current job if I did not do that contract job .
while a contract staff, I was very hardworking and my bosses liked me so much, in fact, they use me as example in some of the training.I used some of those bosses as referees.

I didn't work up to one year there b4 I landed my present job and salary was many times multiple what I was earning. During the interview, from the questions they were asking me, I knew what they wanted and gave them relevant answers with examples. I was strongly recommended for the job.

The problem many contract staff ppl have is of ambition. They go there and relax, while your age is going. B4 they know it, the age passes entry level job and most banks don't see contract as experience. Some ppl that entered with ond dont strive for additional qualification.

You shld see contract jobs as a stepping stone and not a means on its own. Conversion might come sometimes, but most times, it doesn't come. Why dont you convert yourself?
