May God bless this man that wrote the petition.A woman who ran Naija economy a grand is being awarded for what. I now know why Obj sacked the woman from same ministry many years ago. She has lost touch with the reality of our domestic economy . World bank theory may not work for Naija. We need home theory economic applicators

My Letter sent to Yale University:-

It was with deep regret and sadness that most Nigerians read about the honorary doctoral award given to Nogozi Okonjo Iweala by Yale University this week. It was a serious misjudgment of the credentials of the awardee.

Ngozi has served as the Coordinating Minister for the Nigerian economy for many years, yet Nigerian economy lies postrate today. Nigerian economy is at its lowest ebb. Ngozi has simply ran the economy aground. She is leaving the economy in a far worse state than she met it.

Ngozi's name has been smeared in several corruption incidents in Nigeria. The first one being the missing US$20 Billion which was reported by the former Governor of Nigerian Central Bank. The money remains unaccounted for and Ngozi has not provided any credible response to the charges.

Ngozi purportedly authorized a "forensic audit" carried out by PWC. The PWC in its report claimed that the CBN, which is under Ngozi's portfolio, and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), which is under the Minister of Petroleum Resources refused to cooperate with the auditors. At the end of the day, the auditors were frustrated and reported that they saw only US$1 Billion unaccounted for. They issued a huge disclaimer in the audit report stating clearly that the report should not be relied upon because they did not have access to all the data they requested for. Ngozi had the effrontery to appear on National television and claim that the forensic auditors have exonerated her by saying that only US$1 Billion was missing. She did not disclose the fact that both CBN and NPDC did not cooperate with the auditors. She tried to deceive Nigerians, but she was exposed when President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated in the polls last March.

In any event, how can US$1 Billion be missing under Ngozi's watch. In saner climes, she would be rotting in jail. Because she participated in the huge corruption that goes on in Nigeria, she was able to escape prosecution.

It is against this backdrop that a lot of Nigerians saw the honor from Yale as mis-timed and represents an endorsement of a woman tainted in corruption and crass incompetence.

I urge you to please investigate these claims. You can start by asking PWC for the report. The award to Ngozi should be withdrawn in order to protect the reputation of your esteemed institution.

What parameters did they use to give their awards? What did they know that we don't?
::-- Some of the yardstick they used are: She crippled the economy, devalues the Naira, involved in payment of bogus subsidy claims, used Sure- problem( sure-p) as conduit pipe to siphon fund for PDP and elected goons. Yes, they know what we never knew about, she implented World Bank/IMF policies to favour her former employers at the expense of Nigeria. I am not baffled at all, afterall, she cooked for Biafran republic to divide Nigeria at all cost during the civil war. She is capable of doing any economic damage.

This is not about ethnicity. It is about the future of Nigeria and holding public office holders accountable. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala cannot excuse herself from the economic rot that Nigeria is in. She was the leader of the economic team. The buck stops at her table.

reading posts like this makes me mourn for Nigeria. for your information, the cashless policy is a product of the CBN ; the regulatory institution charged with monetary policies, ensuring the stability of our national currency, maintaining a strong monetary base e.t.c The ministry of finance has no business with cashless policy, as it major tasks are outlined in fiscal policies; taxation and govt expenditure. we dont need big grammer to explain this.

we are suffering from unemployment in this country, yet! this woman and Jonathan prefer to overlook that and proceed to buying refined petroleum product from another government who provide employment for her citizen by refining crude oil and selling it to Nigerian and west African Nations.

if Nigeria refineries are working and built to full capacity, imagine the revenue the FG will raised from selling Petrol, diesel , etc to 200million Nigerians , that = more REVENUE

Imagine the number of present unemployed youth and expert that will be trained and gain EMPLOYMENT
direct employment into the ministry of petroleum and it will still engage many other sectors, our engineer, laborer, tanker drivers, accountants, banks etc..

this will also make Nigeria independent , and reduce expenditure on money spent abroad thereby increasing employment in our country and reducing it where we presently buying refined product from, even the Naira will be strong

this is madness... i just get pissed off at our leaders anytime am trying to explain this.
i wonder if they have brain, ministry of petroleum has restricted itself to merely selling and looting of crude oil and 18 billion dollars..
our leaders have curry in their head instead of brain because these alone is enough prove, its that simple.

no power , no nothing, Indian have no oil but they are able to engage people working in textile industries.

all your talks are revolving around oil! oil this... oil that! we're so focused on oil that we can't even notice other improvement in our economy!

"YALE UNIVERSITY GAVE ITS PRESTIGIOUS HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE TO AN UNDESERVING NIGERIAN"

:Ngozi Iweala, the outgoing Nigeria's finance minister was awarded a honorary doctorate degree by Yale University on May 15, 2015. The citation from the Yale University reads:"Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Doctor of Humane Letters. You are a citizenof your country, your continent, and the world. Shaped by challenging experiences during your childhood in Nigeria, you have made social and economic reform your mission. As Nigeria’s coordinating minister of economic development and minister of finance, you have tackled corruption, created a vision and path to long-term economic stability, and worked to build a culture of transparency. At the World Bank, you made food securitya priority and provided policy adviceand capital for the world’s poorest countries. With wisdom, a fierce dedication to doing what is right, and unflagging energy, you have transformed the economic landscape of your nation. We are proud to name you Doctor of Humane Letter"This citation from the Yale University does not reflect nor represent everything that has happened under the watch and the supervision of the Nigerian economy by Ngozi Iweala as the nation's finance minister.

There is no tangible evidence of any economic development in Nigeria under the leadership of Ngozi Iweala in all reality. Nigeria's economy is still an oil-dependent economy that is debt and borrowingridden as well as 100% consuming and importing in nature. Nigeria's debt profile has risen rapidly under Ngozi Iweala and Nigeria has borrowed over $2 billion in the last four months alone to pay salaries ofthe federal and state civil servants. Our foreign reserves and excess crude oil accounts have both depleted heavily under Ngozi Iweala. The recurrent expenditures in the federal budgets reached the highest levels which made capital development practically impossible in Nigeria under Ngozi Iweala. The board of regents of this ivy league school missed it completely by awarding their prestigious honorarydoctorate degree to an undeserving Nigerian in all truth, honesty and reality. The Nigeria's economy has remained the same under Ngozi Iweala without any evidence of its diversity from oil.

The Nigerian Naira crashed to its lowest value in its history under Ngozi Iweala. The true picture that Yale University missed is the fact that the economy of Nigeria has almost grounded to its final halt today which will makes its a daunting task for the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari to meet its campaign promises. The menace of official corruption and financial scandals have both reached their peaks in Nigeria underNgozi Iweala. A central bank governor was fired for disclosing that $20 billion was missing from the federal coffers and this allegation was investigated in a shady and questionable manner. The oil subsidy scam that cheated Nigeria's tax payers of trillions of Naira was coordinated and supervised by Ngozi Iweala. The culture of official corruption and state resource mismanagement were both honored, celebrated, protected and defended under the leadership of Ngozi Iweala as the supervising coordinator of the Nigerian economy. To give a honorary doctorate degree to an undeserving Nigerian by this world's reknown university is the biggest slap on the faces of the 180 million Nigerians in 2015.

I am using this social medium to appeal to the board of regents of this prestigious university to withdraw this honorary degree that they awarded to this Nigerian immediately and without any furtherdelay for the sake of posterity.

https://www.change.org/p/yale-university-withdraw-the-honorary-doctorate-degree-given-to-ngozi-iweala-of-nigeria?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C5454584854

indeed, this is a hate theory, characterized by frustration, anger, hopelessness and so on. There is also a high degree of lack of understanding of the factors that affect ECA, Exchange Rate and Foreign Reserves. It is better to acquaint yourself with the knowledge of these factors for a better informed judgment than to engage in a futile venture, deploying the resources that are scarce at your disposal with no visibility of realizing your aim.

NOI deserves the award, and not even your hate theory or those of your associates can reverse it.

Prof. Soludo warned us about this award last year, did we listen?
Soludo accused Iweala of falsifying our national statistics figures for "Vain glory" abroad.
Take a read below;

What worries me is that this government is the first in our history to attempt to manipulate our national statistics under Okonjo-Iweala. When NBS published the poverty figures in 2011, she felt indicted and incensed. She called upon the World Bank to come and examine the ‘methodology’ and get NBS to ‘review’ its numbers. Oby Ezekwesili (as VP Africa Region rejected the call to try to tamper with a country’s statistics). Once Oby left, the ‘World Bank’ started talking about ‘new figures’, without conducting any new surveys. I was told about it by a World Bank economist, and I cautioned that it was a dangerous gamble that would damage the credibility of the NBS. If you want to ‘review methodology’, you conduct another survey but you can’t change ‘methodology’ because you don’t like the published figures. No government in our history has tried it: even Sani Abacha allowed a poverty survey that put poverty at 67% under his regime. At this rate, who will believe statistics coming from the Nigerian government again? Is it now the World Bank that sits in Washington and allocates poverty numbers to Nigeria? Something smells here!
Now that you decide which economic statistics published by NBS to accept and which ones to ‘change the methodology’ to give favourable figures, you can keep feeding your manipulated figures to your international media circus for the vain glorious awards to sustain an empty hype, while Nigerians groan under hardship. We can actually ask Nigerians whether they are getting better off now contrary to your bogus figures.

It is obvious from Soludo's allegation that Yale has no idea what is happening in Nigeria save for the crap Iweala is feeding them, had jonathan's govt lasted any longer, It will get to a point where ADB,IMF, WOrld bank will turn their backs on us, thanks to Iweala who has painted a phantasmagoria of the Nigerian economic situation.

Shame!!!
