Ever thought of embarking on a challenging feat that may leave you jittery and sweaty? For adventure seekers, this may pose a new rewarding challenge for you to experience nature at its peak and exercise. The longest canopy walkway in Africa and the second largest in the world measuring 401m long and 22.5m high at its peak is currently a challenge most people have embarked upon only to return midway. I must warn that this is not a journey for the faint hearted or Acrophobic!

The Canopy Walkway was recently added to the 25 years old conservation and environment education centre to allow visitors a magnificent view of its surroundings, nature and achieve the primary goal to develop the eco tourism park.

A walk down Africa’s longest canopy will permit you a beautiful view of these side attractions:

The Tree House
The tree house is one of the most fascinating features you will see, it is stylishly seated on a stout Dawadawa tree rising above 25m. A well protected ladder is strongly mounted behind the tree to enable nature enthusiasts reach to the tree house and savour the panoramic view.

Bird Watching
You get a chance to see some of the African rarest birds like Black Kite, Harrier Hawk, Grey Kestrel, Common Bulbul, Green Pigeon, Red–Eyed Dove, Blue Spotted Wood-Dove, Wood Land Kingfisher, Allied Hornbill, Piping Hornbill, Lizard Buzzard and more.

Scenic View of Nature
You get an overhead view of the environment, sighting the ponds, woodlands and swamp forest around and below. Other creatures you will find apart from the birds are monkeys, peacocks, turtles, alligators, butterflies, bush bucks, crocodiles, mona monkeys, squirrels, snakes, monitor lizards, duikers, giant rats and hogs. The ponds also house the Koi and Tilapia fishes in separate ponds.
Picnic Spots & Photo Shoots

The Canopy Walkway is a great spot for personal pictures only as you cannot take a pre wedding, modeling or group picture on it like the Trail Boardwalk; the width fits only one. Once on the canopy walkway, you will find below great spots for picnics and facilities for outdoor games mostly for children.

Are you are ready to take up the challenge? You will need these survival kits:
- Bottle of water
- Face Towel
- Comfortable shoes
- Smart outfit

Note that you may need both hands to hold on to both sides as you walk along the canopy, so try to free your hands before the walk. If you want to tour the Conservation centre especially for educational purpose, Park rangers are available as guides.

Location: Lekki Conservation Centre
Km 19, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lekki.
P.O.Box 74638, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Also remember this is not a journey for the faint hearted or Acrophobic! Do share your experiences of the walk with us; we will love to hear them!
