What fruit did Adam eat? Adam ate of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Christian tradition states that this fruit was an apple. Islam and Jewish tradition claims this fruit was a fig which was much more common in the Mideast than an apple. Apples were almost non-existent. By eating this fruit, Adam disobeyed God and was cast with his wife Eve from the Paradise called Eden.

Adam knew eating this fruit was wrong, so why did he do it? He had knowledge delivered to him by God stating that the consequences of eating of this fruit would be bad. Yet, Adam listened to his wife Eve, who had been beguiled by the serpent, and both Adam and Eve ate the fruit.

Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This action brought evil and sin into the world. If Adam "ate" of the fruit of knowledge, that means he acted upon this knowledge. The Garden of Evil was perfect, a paradise, where everything was good. There was no sin or evil in the Eden. Adam brought sin into the world.

Adam's action brought sin into the picture. Adam now knew the difference between right or wrong and Adam chose to do wrong. Evil may have already existed, but it did not have a permanent foothold in the world of paradise until Adam opened the door and allowed it in. Adam helped evil to manifest into this reality.

Instead of living in harmony with God in idyllic paradise, Adam chose evil and as a result distanced himself from God. Adam chose to take actions that could either be good or bad. Adam chose to be co-creator with God, creating events and objects that could be either right or wrong.

From the very beginning then, mankind has been choosing - we choose by doing - we choose by visualizing a goal or desire and then we take the action that we feel will move us closer to that goal. Both the goal and the process we use to get there can be either good or bad, right or wrong, holy or sinful. Therefore, as Jesus said, not only every thing we do, but every thought we think, moves us closer or farther from the Father.

In essence without Adam eating the fruit, we would all be ignorant fools walking naked around the garden....we would be slaves to God unable to define right from wrong
God is the almighty and all knowing, he already ought to have know Adam would eat the apple, so why all this fuss, why put the tree there in the first place if he has God already knows what would happen?

Imagine a life without choices, where you are programmed according to a particular set of instructions.......Garden of Eden would have been the NORTH KOREA of earth where all its inhabitant are told what to do and how to do it.....

@op, you only asked a question but left it in rhetorics. You still have not told us what you think was the fruite Adam ate back then in the Garden of Eden. Atleast, lets hear your view on what you think actually transpired in the Garden of Eden, after which, i will reply proper to this thread.
