the supposed GIANT OF AFRICA,I don tire for una
That is what I hate about Nigeria! They leaders just played down on the nation's GIANT nature. It is time to say NO to this nonsense we always put the nation through. What is going on?!

Despite all the millions of Dollars that clueless clown from Otuoke gave the Stations, immediately he shifted the elections? (Even Channels TV got theirs and you could feel the "change of tune" immediately after undecided )

So, the money is looted and gone, just like Jonathan!

Nonsense! We shaa defeated the highly dreaded ebola virus to the envy of other African countries and others. I've never heard that any citizen would die for not meeting the switch anyway. Who really cares to subscribe for the crappy Startimes NOVA bouquet (600 naira) when there is no light to watch it? Not to talk of the most expensive GOTV bouquet

it is not free in nigeria, GOTv by DSTV and Startimes are digital. Note that most LCD. LED and Plasma TVs in Nigeria don't have digital tuners. So you still need to purchase the STB to receive the channels.

Startimes only local NTA stations of the state is free. you need to subscribe to watch other local stations

Sorry it took this long.

I shall overlook the issue of TV Standard, Equipment and Content and focus in summary why the digitalization.
1. The primary essence of digitalization is space and conformity to international standards. By Space Analogue TV stations take up mammoth space(up to say 8 times whtat digital TV consumes on a bandwidth) and that's why ITU comes in as the international regulatory body.
Meaning if we digitalise according to ITU standards we save space and as per conformity we are at par with other countries and there won't be issues uplinking or downlinking TV signals from Nigerian TV Stations.
After equipment the next most vital component of digitalization is the Top set boxes and you don't manufacture top set boxes without a TV standard(DVB-T/T2 OR DVB-S). Our government never had a white paper detailing all these until last year.
2. Most Nigerians rely on NTA/AIT and other terrestrial TV stations that require just an Outdoor Antenna to watch. If Nigeria Switches over to Digital Mode of Broadcasting TV signals, who is going to finance or pay for the top set boxes millions of Nigerian households need to watch Tv? NBC only recently asked for tenders from companies for the Top set boxes.
3. The foundation for this project is Faulty. Start times are 70% Chinese ( by virtue of stake) while Gotv is an arm of multi choice( a foreign company). And the idea Is allowing 2 carriers ( one Government owned and the other private) but in reality neither of them is government owned. In towns and cities where they claim to have gone digital all they have succeeded in doing is feeding the Chinese or South Africans content.
This is a lengthy and vast subject and am uploading this from a phone.
I shall update in batches
