THE AGONY OF A PRECIOUS COLLEAGUE
After a great hustle and tussle, Bunmi Ayorinde, a young damsel in her early twenties from a humble background narrowly edged through the puzzle-like moments of her strong desire to see the walls of the university. She was serious-minded, determined and resilient never to conform to despondency, mediocrity or any sort of frivolous behaviours if eventually she was offered admission. The average-height and chocolate complexioned lady was keen to hold excellence with both hands. Like any other morally cultured child would act, her rigid resolution was birthed out of her subconscious mind having critically observed her lovely parents who on daily basis would work from sunrise to sunset, struggle through thick and thin just to ensure that her long anticipated dream is brought to the face of reality. **** As God would colour her effort with an unmerited favour, in 2011, she was admitted into the prestigious Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, into the department of Animal Production and Health. Everything was fine on her path, her result was commendable and quite enviable even though the university environment wasn't a child's play neither was it on bed of roses even for the success-driven students. Yet, she was ever focused to achieve nothing less than her anticipated goal,'EXCELLENCE'. ****At the blink of an eye, at d reach of a click,without a traceable cause, she developed issues with her hips. Like a joke it seemed, the pain became so fierce such that she started limping. Believe you me, this year clocks the forth year that Bunmi had been battling with this medical challenge, an unfavourable menace that had made her body system a place of abode. She had gone for series of medical checks and balances, but all were temporary corrective measures that only relieved her of pain rather than proffer absolute remedy. On 15th July, 2014 after intense clinical and radiological evaluations were made on the subject parts, the medical term, ' AVASCULAR NACROSIS' was diagnosed and further tests revealed that the left hip would be surgically operated on the basis of 'HIP ARTHROPLASTY' and for the right hip, HIP HEMIARTHROPLASTY'. The financial implication of this surgical operation stands at N1,500,000, ' a non-negiotiable huge amount. What an irony of life! ****Olubunmi is in desperate need of someone who would show her a bit of love and kindness, who would forgive her of her past if had offended such, someone who would ease her of hatred's blindness in such a crucial time like this in her life. As the clock ticks every second, bunmi counts down to the deadline of JULY 28, a day that would determine her fate, a day she would always live to remember, a day she would always pray for those who contributed to the restoration of normalcy to her precious life. ****Bunmi presently serves her Farm Practical year at Iwoye-ketu.
