Greetings to bakers in the house. Really, you all are doing great job with your pastry works, cake decorations etc. What an ART, baking is! grin

For the first time, recently, I did try to explore the world of cake making! smiley ** Prior to this time, I have always enjoyed munching the end products than participating in the baking process** no thanks to my love for another art, knitting.

With this thread, I would be sharing my journey into the world of baking...and, would be glad to have suggestions from professionals out there. I am still a Learner with the capital 'L'. A very big one at that! And, Just a month old in the art...

The first photograph shows my first attempt -Cake! #NoDecorations. Recipe/Instructions were gotten off the internet.

For the pie filling, I had the following as suggested by the website I subscribed to:

-Minced chicken/meat
, Carrot
, Garlic
, Irish Potato
, 2 tablespoons of flour
, Onion
, Cool water

I would suggest you read up the procedure on this weblink. It was pretty helpful.

My Fourth experiment was in making a basic white sandwich bread.

Project FAILED woefully as the dough wouldn't RISE (smh) even after placing it in a warm place for several HOURS! No thanks to the yeast. I'm sorry there is no photograph... tongue grin
The outcome was harder than a saussage. Smh.

I followed the instructions here:

Op great thread. I love baking with a passion. Wish i could upload pixs. My phone is acting up. Btw that pie up there did you brush with egg before baking? For the bread make sure your yeast is still alive! And dont kill it with hot water. The one i made last night the water was so hot! Kai i resorted to praying cos i had already mixed in everything before it dawned on me how hot the water was. And the yeast survived! Miracle i must say

Thanks, breadplanets!
Yes, I did brush the pies up with egg before placing them in the oven. They came out so well, tastier.

lol @miracle of the yeast.
Now. how do I know when the yeast is active and live?
I didn't use a hot water, but warm as instructed. undecided

the pastry looks nice but you don't give the loft the enough time to wrist before you bake it that is the reason the bread looks like it boasts when is baking. .even you don't give the bread more space when is getting to bake in the oven and that is the reason it was march together.

is because the yeast is too much ni it,next time If you are about to add your yeast, just take notice, like if you want to use half killio of flour use one level of teaspoon of yeasw ,with other things u are using to bake ,when you take notice of that, you will see how is going to come out with the taste is going to give to you
