It serves as a deterrent to those co-habiting without any dowry paid. My Mbano friend confirmed that it is observed there too

Best tradition ever,

If u can put someone's daughter in ur house , impregnate her, and put her thru labour without paying her dowry then u are obviously looking for trouble.

The family are quiet nice, he wud ave been asked to share a room with the corpse for a night then he wud appreciate the importance of legally marrying a woman.

Why the Babaric Tradition?

Its to guard against all the adulterous lifestyle of that tribe that is fast being known for producing babies thru baby-mamas without wanting the marry. Shout out to the likes of davido, whizkid, wande coal etc.

lf you must father children, marry the woman that is what the tradition is all about. Some parts of lgboland would not have even allowed him perform any rite nor take custody of the children and if the second man did pay the woman's dowry he automatically becomes the children's father. Baby mama is not traditionally recognized.

This country will never move forward if people are still practicing these superstitious nonsense.
So someone would agree to perform marriage rites on a dead person just because of some damn belief?
What foolishness.

People need to throw away all this useless cultural practices because it will lead us nowhere.

Its not superstition my dear, it's just tradition... It happens even where I come from... A man must legaly marry his wife (traditionally) otherwise you must still pay her brideprise before she can be buried. I think it upholds the integrity of Marrying legaly unlike what is happening these days when 2 people starts living with each other and claiming to be married.
