A woman said to be returning from a church was allegedly raped and robbed by a gang of armed robbers around Apo Bridge in the Abuja City Centre.

Our reporter learnt that the woman was brutalized and left to her fate before a good Samaritan immediately called on the police.
She was said to have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Aso Chronicle further learnt a police patrol team went after the hoodlums, who had attempted to escape on sighting the team.
In the process, the police source said a 28-year-old man of Ajegunle Area of Mpape was arrested.
Commenting on the incident, FCT Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu, said in a press briefing in his office last week that a fierce gun battle with the heavily armed hoodlums ensued as soon as they saw the police patrol team.
He said the police personnel overpowered the hoodlums through the deployment of tact and professionalism, while some members escaped through the canal linking Garki Area 3 with bullet wounds.
The FCT police boss said that a green colour Volkswagen golf car was recovered from the suspect with a bag filled with ladies’ jewelries and make up items.
The CP also said that efforts to track down other fleeing members of the gang have been intensified.
