Kojo blasts NFF over Keshi’s sack

By John Egbokhan
Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Anthony Kojo Williams has blasted the Amaju Pinnick-led board for relieving Stephen Keshi of his duties as Super Eagles coach.

Speaking in an interview with Sports Vanguard, Kojo-Williams lambasted the NFF for the poor handling of the Keshi matter, noting that it was clear that the coach was sacked following the exit of a top official of the Department of State Security. He said the NFF was not professional in handling the matter.
‘’There are many issues at stake in this matter. One was the choice of Keshi in the first place. He was not the choice of the NFF, having failed to qualify the Eagles for the 2015 Nations Cup. The Nff did not want him but they had to back down following perceived pressure from a top officer in the SSS.

‘’The NFF has not been professional in handling the case of Keshi. They never wanted Keshi in the first place but buckled under pressure from the top. If they were professionals as they claim, why did they not sack Keshi when the security man was still on the job’’, Kojo asked rhetorically.

‘’But they could not have done this because they cannot stand the fire and that explains why they hurriedly pushed Keshi out at the shortest notice. Unlike others, I see beyond the sack, that is why I feel the NFF has not displayed professionalism in conducting its internal affair’’, added Kojo-Williams.

Keshi has been on a downward slide since leading Nigeria to win the AFCON. I think it's a step in the right direction!
