FROM HERE WAKING UP to the moment she returns to her bed at night, the british Queen is always on duty as the head of state and the commonwealth. This is how a typical day of the Queen looks like
7.30a.m
The Queen is woken up by a chamberlain bringing her morning tea. As she enjoys her tea she listens to BBC radio 4’s news and politics show, Today.
8.30a.m
Takes breakfast with her husband, Prince Philip, mostly cornflakes or porridge.
9.30a.m
The Queen meets her private secretary for a briefing on the day’s events.
1.00p.m
If the Queen is still in the Palace by this time, she takes her lunch ( she prefers to do this alone, but sometimes calls one of her children to join her)
2.30p.m
If the weather is friendly, she takes a walk in the palace garden. during this walk, everyone is expected to make themselves scarce except the palace gardener.
3.00p.m
The rest of the evening is dedicated to the Queen’s social duties. She oversees almost 620 organisations and charities as a patron which she uses this time of the day for but in the summer this time is dominated by preparations for the famous garden parties in the palace ground.
6.30p.m (Wednesdays only)
She holds her weekly private audience with the current Prime Minister to discuss the state of affairs of the state. The meetings Audience is just the Queen and the PM and details of the discussion has never been known by any other person outside of the two. Tony Blair is the only PM in history to have cancelled a royal briefing.
7.30p.m
When her husband returns from his own business and the couple enjoy a drink together in their private apartments. After this she is left alone to dine in front of the television. After dinner, she indulges herself in her penchant for crime writers or attempt the notorious difficult crossword in the British Sunday Times newspaper .
11.00p.m
She retires to bed even though her light often stays on for another hour while she sifts through the last of the day’s paperwork, traditionally brought to her in a series of red boxes.
