7 Reasons Nigerian Youth Are Highly Desperate For White Collar Jobs. by Nobody: 5:23pm On Jul 13, 2015
There are a great number of Nigerian graduates out there, still seeking white collar jobs (WCJs), despite the fact that their arrow has not hit the target, which is the job of their dream.

Frankly speaking, these youths have a share of the blame, as well as the Nigerian society.

Youths are disinterested in trying their hands on new things. Some of them still want to be spoon-feed.Nigerian graduates are seriously becoming frustrated everyday.

They are doing all sorts of things to secure WCJs. They put forward several reasons why they want WCJs.

Lets take a look at these reasons why the graduates still cling their hope on WCJs.

1.Employability is based on Certificate:The Nigerian educational system is tailored around having an academic qualification. There is hardly any employer that ask a job seeker if he has practical skills.

2.Youths are not innovative:A good number of Nigerian graduates suffer from mental-laziness. They see it as degrading to their status if they take up unskilled profession. They cannot think outside the box.

3.Luxury:The fantasies that surround WCJs make the youths salivate for these jobs. They seetop bankers and doctors in expensive suits and porsche vehicles. They believe that the only way to getting such luxury is to take up WCJs.

4.Respect given by society:The Nigerian society does not help matters. People value someone if he says he works in an organisation or a company, even if his salary is a peanut.

5.Financial package:When graduates hear the huge remuneration of oil and telecommunication companies, they do not think of anything else than a passion to have these jobs.

6.Background:Some parents always insist that their children will do no other job than WCJs, even if such children have stayed at home for donkey years after graduation.

7.Unfavourable economy:The poor living standards in Nigeria, where poverty is the order of the day is not helping issues. There is hardly any opportunity for an alternative. There are no available channels for youths to secure collateral-free loans to start a business. As all these arenon-extant, they continue searching for WCJs.

1. Employment is based on certificate - our Nigerian parents believes certificate is the only way out. And so we the students too. 18years of schoolin na beans? 6-6-4-2!!!
2. Youths are not innovative - i ask U; the Nigerian man who discovered HIV drugs where is he today?(Dr Jeremiah Abalaka) The students who make car running on batteries where are they today? Despite publications on media for government to cheer them Up.
3. Luxury - U are only recognized when you command respect not witj your MSC still riding okada or napep.
4. Respect given by the society - U nailed it.
5. Financial packages - I know of a guy who got a job with an oil company and rides on big wheels within 3 months. Your savings from those WCjs can aid your personal savings and set up a personal business. Reasons why everyone admires the packages.
6. Some parents insist WCJ job- when you become a parent u might understand their angle of view.
7. Unfavorable economy - which is the reason why we discussing this long story. If its taken care of, we might be discussing another productive topic.

Government policies are not helping matters for young business people. We always say business for the youth. Anyone with business idea that can be started with capital ranging from 400k - 800k should educate people here not those ones with e-book or send me private mail. Thanks

If you want to be rich and happy don't go to school!

self education is the best in life! What you know how to do best determines what you will have!

Formal education is just an opportunity not a guarantee to wealth! If you are a first class graduate and you don't know how to solve problems,Sorry your name is OYO!

University is where employees are trained,96% of students in the university have civil service mentality, let me go to school, get a good result to enable me get a job!

Some of the Materials they are using for lectures are so outdated that they can't survive in the 21st century economy. That's why many so called professors today are financially stranded!

Some first class graduates end up as last class in real life because academic excellence is different from financial intelligence!

To be successful in life all you have to do is act in ways that produce more of what you want.that's all!

Through self education one can learn anything he wants to know in life!
