Dropping where? Nigeria is projected to be the third most populous country by mid century. All available records (CIA Fact Book, UN, FG etc) indicate that we are currently experiencing a population explosion.

So relax ladies, the wave isn't stopping anytime soon.
Re: Is The Nigerian Birth Rate Dropping? by tpiander: 2:35pm On Aug 20, 2015
That could be a misconception.
Re: Is The Nigerian Birth Rate Dropping? by ApexTitan(m): 3:03pm On Aug 20, 2015
Yes, its a misconception that the birth rate is dropping. All the facts say it is on the rise (about 2.5% annually)

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.GROW

http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/nigeria-population/

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/population

The population in Nigeria averaged 96.40 million from 1960 until 2014 reaching an all time high of 178.52 million in 2014...

The population of Nigeria represents 2.35 percent of the world's total population which arguably means that one in every 43 people on the planet is a resident of Nigeria.

****

While there are debates about the accuracy of the country's population figures it is without doubt that all indicators point to a continued growth in whatever baseline figure is agreed on.

Your links refer to population growth , rather than birth rate specifically.

Population growth can be fueled by many other factors, including immigration.

A drop would be disadvantageous in the long run.
Re: Is The Nigerian Birth Rate Dropping? by ApexTitan(m): 9:05pm On Aug 20, 2015
cheesy Amazing. So the projections are based on immigration.

Nothing has changed about the perception of children in our society, teenage pregnancy is still on the rise, this new fad called "Baby mamma" is encouraging polygamy and single parenthood, i don't think it's dropping @all rather it should be increasing.

of course, it's immigration!

nigeria has become a super power. people from all over the world are trooping in to get a slice of our top quality education, our 24/7 electricity, our portable water, our top level security & the human rights act that we seem to take very seriously. grin

sometimes you have to wonder how some people passed their SSCE, never mind graduating from a uni with their piss-poor cognitive reasoning.

can you folks converse without insulting others?

If I respond to your boss now, he will disrupt the thread with vulgarity, obscenity and all kinds of narcissistic uncouth behaviour.

Is it very difficult to act civilized instead of roguish all the time?

you believe (or want nl readers to believe) nobody immigrates to Nigeria, and so?
