Intex Unveils Intex Irist; Android 4.4 Running Irist Smartwatch With Built-in 3G by Nobody: 9:10am On Jul 16, 2015
India's Intex Technologies has unveiled its first wearable device in the form of the iRist, a smartwatch that runs Android 4.4 KitKat - not Android Wear - and can operate independently of your smartphone. Launched at the sidelines of Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai, the iRist is priced at Rs. 11,999 ($188) and will be available in India starting August in Black, Pink, and Orange colour variants.

The Intex iRist is the company’s new smartwatch announced during the MWC in Shanghai. This smartwatch is made out of plastic, and it sports two physical buttons on its right side, in-between which you’ll find a 5-megapixel camera. The smartwatch sports a 1.56-inch 240 x 240 OLED display with a Sapphire glass protection on top of it. This smartwatch is fueled by MediaTek’s MT6572 dual-core SoC running at 1.2GHz, and a 600mAh battery is also a part of this package. The company says that this battery can push the watch through 240 minutes of talk time and up to 200 hours of standby, which sounds impressive.

The watch is water resistant (IP65 certification), and it packs in 512MB of RAM along with 4GB of internal storage (only 1.3GB user available), but you can expand that storage via a microSD card up to 32GB. The aforementioned 5-megapixel camera is capable of shooting 720p video, and you can place your SIM card inside of this watch in order to use its 3G capabilities. Bluetooth 4.0 is also a part of this package, and the watch measures 44 x 44 x 14mm, while it weighs 83 grams.

The Intex iRist runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, and you have Google Play Store pre-installed on it. This thing actually runs the full Android 4.4.2 OS according to the source. The watch comes in Black, Orange and Pink color options, and if you live in India you’ll be able to purchase it this August for Rs. 11,999 from eBay.in, though the watch will be available from other sources as well. Intex will also bundle in a Bluetooth Stereo headset along with the watch, which is a nice touch.
