When a woman is pregnant, she gains a lot of fat around the stomach.
This happens in order for her skin to stretch and accommodate the baby.
It is also for the baby to be cushioned and well protected.

After delivery the fat remains, making the stomach to appear bigger.
Getting rid of these fat may not be as easy as it was to gain them
which often becomes a source of concern to the woman as she may find
it difficult fitting nicely into clothes without a bulging tummy. It is
important to note here that stomach fat may be a temporary thing for
some as the stomach may go back to its normal size after a few months
of delivery.

There are two types of stomach fat namely; subcutaneous and visceral
fat. Subcutaneous fat lies just beneath the skin while visceral fat
lies around the internal organs, it cannot be seen though present.
Visceral fat pushes out subcutaneous fat when it is much in the body
and gives the stomach a bigger appearance.

Here are tips on how you can suppress both fats and still put on those
jeans you had before pregnancy and look cool:

Breastfeeding: this is one of the most natural and effective ways of
losing stomach fat. It enables the uterus return to it's size before
pregnancy, making the stomach appear smaller.

Regular exercise: Exercising the whole body to give a balanced loss of fat, not
just around the stomach but all over the body. Do exercise that makes
you work out your muscles, particularly the muscles around the stomach
area. As you work the muscles, more calories are burned off to give a
lean muscle which will cause weight loss around the stomach. Sit ups,
push ups, squats, jogging and swimming are examples of exercise that
can be done to lose weight around the tummy.

Be motivated to continue your exercise routine and be patient for
results. The fats accumulated over a period of time, it may also
require some time to suppress it depending on your body.

Maintain a healthy diet by eating more of vegetables, fruits, small
amounts of beef, poultry, low fat dairy products, whole grains and
complex carbohydrate. Try to avoid junk food.

Reduce your intake of sugary, carbonated and alcoholic drinks.
Excessive stress should be controlled; the reason is because it
encourages the abdominal region to store fat.

Get good sleep; it enables the body recover from exercise and allows
food to digest properly.

Use of belly bands wrapped around the abdominal region also helps to
flatten the stomach after delivery.

Avoid skipping meals as this may cause you to be very hungry and
consume more food than you normally would, instead eat small portions
at intervals.
