More than 2,000 believed to have died so far this year trying to make
the desperate journey for better life
in Europe.

The International Organization for
Migration (IOM) says that about
188,000 people have been rescued
so far this year while trying to make
their way to the old continent
through the world's most dangerous
migrant route.

The IOM says the 200,000-mark
could be crossed by the end of the
week.

These Mediterranean boat migrants
have risked theft, rape, humiliation,
torture and racketeering for reaching
shores of Europe only to lose their lives to the eye of the storm.
