Na today you know Buhari, you must restructure Nigeria now for better future and national development.. Individual state should be free from single crude oil revenue, freebie.com. Am not a fan of rosy talk but action/result had enough tales.

Oil is $48.50/barrel at the market close today.

By this same time last year, it was $106/barrel.

The outlook is not very promising.

Nigerians will be hit very hard--things will not get any better soon.

To add insult to an injury, a mass layoff in the Oil and Gas sector is nigh.

GEJ should be hung by the balls. Buhari must recover looted funds if Nigeria must survive this tsunami of hardship.

It's a good proposal but we run a really bloated government.
Civil servants everywhere statewide and federal.

We can't fund these money gulpers with agriculture and solid minerals.
If we don't become manufacturers and exporters and revitalize our Industries, Nigeria will be in deep shit. Literally.

Nigeria should forget about going back to Agric.

Nigeria should focus instead on industrial development. Agric won't earn us much cash. And we do not even have the large scale mechanised farms that are needed to be a big time agric producer(5% of Nigeria's agric production is done in large scale farms.).

Word on the streets my Partners account is currently in Prison. Am his Sidekick undecided
we don't need Nigerians in the diaspora... we have more than enough human resources they just don't want to take risk 'cos of some factors and if we don't address those factors,, Those in the diaspora would come home and run back.. thank you..

There is an angle that Nigerians, not to my surprise, are not examining. Remember that we heard and continue to hear about fantastical sums of money stolen by the GEJ government including, most famously from Sanusi, $20bn in an 18 month period. Think seriously about this, if GEJ's officials managed to steal such gigantic sums on a regular basis, then the change in government to a purpotedly honest regime should more than offset the fall in oil prices. To keep hearing that Nigeria's financial position remains in dire straits suggests either the new regime is no better than the old one, or that a lot of those looted sums trotted out were false.

Is that not why they hired independent auditors,, to search for the money and other loopholes/irregularities..,

Perhaps, but you don't need independent auditors to know that those figures such as the $20bn claim defied logic and the most rudimentry test of plausibility. They were trotted out for their shock value at the time. It is why I made this comment a couple of months:

There are 2 problems with the politics of the $20bn story for me. Because the amount was a fabrication, a good story would need to be spun after May 29 as to why it cannot be recovered.

A second related problem is the false expectations aspect: Nigerians expect that this vast pool of money previously stolen by GEJ and his cronies would become available to meet public needs after May 29.

It will be difficult to explain these 2 problems away as public perception meets the monumental force of reality in the coming months and years.

Does anyone seriously believe that such a sizeable amount of money is out there and we are having all these talk of belt tightening and going back to agriculture?

i would have to disagree with the president's statement. Nigeria SHOULD NOT GO back to Agriculture! While it is true that we need to diversify from crude oil, we should not be thinking about agriculture as a means to earn foreign exchange.

As a country we need to aspire to be like the developed countries and NONE of them rely on agriculture as their major source of forex so why should we? We need to break out of the cycle whereby we export unprocessed agricultural goods and then import those same goods when they have been processed at a much higher premium!

Mr. President agriculture is surely not the way to go. We definitely need to revamp the agricultural sector to ensure we are self sufficient but we should be looking at services and manufacturing as major revenue earners.
