Do You Know Your Worth? How to Negotiate A Better Salary. by zerolimit: 12:45pm On Mar 21, 2009
Before i start you must know your worth and place
value on yourself, don't ever feel deficient.I believe you have
a lot to offer.
Negotiating your next salary can be both a challenging and
rewarding experience. A  lot of caution is required when you
are negotiating with your  employer. It is best not
to appear greedy; rather as someone should be paid
what he deserves or what he is worth
Negotiations  for your new salary involves a lot of  tact,
skill  and diplomacy.

A lot of  factors sums up  your ability to
negotiate your salary and strike the best deal possible.
Your CV must be well-written
and reflect your true market worth. If it doesn't then you may
struggle to get interviews and when you do get interviews you
will be fighting an uphill battle from the start. A good CV will
lead the employer through the successes in your career and tell
them why they should employ you.

At the interview stage the content of your  CV
will form the hub of the deliberation between you and your interviewers
So, if it doesn't  represent you well it may be an inhibitor
in your salary negotiations. .In fact a good CV could add 20%
or more to your next salary,as it describes your market value, don't forget
you are a product. You must brand yourself well. The way you present yourself
matters a lot.

The way you present yourself  at the interview
matters a lot in determining your salary. Make sure that you are
well dressed and well groomed. You should not be taken unaware.
You should be well prepared  for the actual interview itself
you should be set for the salary negotiations as well.
Do a research on the salary range for the job you are applying for and
also the salary range for similar jobs.

If you are applying for the job through a Human resource outfit
make sure  that you have talked to them before the interview
about your salary . Most Human resource outfit are paid a percentage of
your salary as their fee - so it is in their interest for you to get the best.
Your  Agent should have   an idea of what the employer is willing to
pay and how much is your enumeration.

To  get the best out of the deal you must ensure that you perform
well at the interview. At the interview itself make sure you
stipulate all your work related achievements. It is also very
important to stress what you can do for your new employer. The
more your relevance is known the more your chances are.
If you are an expert in a field or you are applying for  managerial  position
you may be able to negotiate a substantial bonus for a certain level of
performance. Of course, you will have to achieve this level of
performance to get your bonus!
